James Brooks, Lead Keyboard Player, was hired to play and organize a music band, for a Local Red Carpet / Black Tie Awards Show in August 2014. This event was held at the renowned Porter Sanford Performing Arts Auditorium, a 4 hour event, where over 300 people were in attendance. Our organization was extremely impressed with James Brooks’ professionalism, timely arrival and the ability to skillfully play in co-ordination with the entire event. During the closing of the event, the audience gave him and the band a grand round of applause. We were so delighted with James Brooks’ performance ability that we have already booked him for our 2015 event this summer.

Our son has been taking lessons from Mr. Hession for about 4 years. From the beginning lessons, we noted and observed Mr. Hession’s teaching style of how our son’s was receptive to his instructions – to us, a good rapport from instructor to student is very important. We are extremely impressed and satisfied. Mr Hession’s lesson plan includes the rotations of the music genres like bluegrass, jazz, classical, contemporary helps grow our son’s interested in learning piano and also helps find and adapt his music skills. Mr Hession encourages improvisation which is amazing and in which we are so glad to see – creativeness is important to us. He tailored his music piece selections to our son’s progress and skills, the type of instructions we CAN only get from a very dynamic teacher and which we CAN’T get from computer software or from any piano books. The recitals annually that Mr Hession organizes teach his students to play in front of a crowd, boost their confidence and make them more attentive to their pieces in daily practices. They know that they will play the pieces in front of a crowd. We have seen clearly our son’s tremendous improvement in his piano skills and techniques. Many people saw and heard our son playing piano in our church’s music concerts, school and other events were also very impressed and often talked with us about him. Mr Hession is an amazing piano teacher. He met all of our expectations and more. I would highly recommend Mr Hession as a piano teacher and have recommended him to many of our closest friends.

About

I teach beginner to mid-advanced piano and voice students in the basic mechanics of their chosen field with lessons in music, theory, and performance. I have more than 16 years of experience in teaching and have worked with both individuals and groups in areas that range from individual instruction to competition, recitals, concerts, and full scale musicals. I have been a region coordinator for GISA (Georgia Independent School Association) for two years, overseeing One Act Play competitions, as well as literary events. Many of my students won in region competitions and went on to place or even win in state competitions. I have worked with K4 through 12th grade students the past six years on musical education, musical performance, chorale singing, concert performance, full-scale musicals, and individual coaching. I love working with young people and am as excited about their musical discoveries as they are. I believe learning music and appreciating it in all its forms adds a richness and depth to our character, as well as aiding in other educational pursuits. Quite simply, I love, love music!
