The job, although too small to attract major attention, was done superbly by a crew that I would welcome into my home anytime. They were professional, very polite and respectful, and went out of their way to be of assistance and to make sure that the job(fence installation) was done exactly as I wanted it and to my satisfaction. I highly recommend Quality Lawn Care for any of your home maintenance jobs.

I hired Leo to install flooring to my basement. We are beyond pleased with the job he did! Leo is very professional...we were pleasantly surprised that he took all of the boxes from the flooring to discard himself and he cleaned the floor to give it an appealing look for us. I will definitely hire Leo for future jobs.

Great job! They did take a little while to get things scheduled once we had paid the down payment, but our fence is beautiful and we love it! We sent them a picture we found on Pinterest and they made it to our specifications. Luis was the guy who actually built the fence and he was very sure to make sure we were aligned on all major decisions. We have a huge rock in our back yard and they had no problems installing the fence into the rock. They worked fast, once they started, and the fence is perfect! We are very satisfied.

My job was completed in a timely manner. The job consisted of replacing closet rods and shelving that fell from the walls because they had not been installed properly. The drywall was repaired and painted and all rods and shelving was replaced the right way this time. I can’t wait to organize my closet. Ben did a GREAT job. Great personality. I would definitely recommend this company.

John installed two frameless shower doors for me at my home. It was a full days work (8 hours) but he and his helper got it done. His communication was clear and appreciated. The installation went well and the shower doors look great. There was a price increase on one of the shower doors due to the complexity of installation. This change increased my cost by $75, but after he completed the first door which looked good I went ahead and had the second one done. John explained to me why the price was different and I understood. I enjoyed John in my home, he was respectful, timely, tidy and thorough. He did what he said he would do and I look forward to working with him on future projects.

I connected with Marcus abt three weeks ago regarding a last minute extra-large mirror install. Not only did he come out pretty quick, he walked us through the education part of the installation process - which, I enjoyed. In addition to the mirror install, Marcus drilled holes for our new bathroom vanity, fixed our partially installed sink, fixed the plumbing and also replaced an electrical outlet! He’s a great guy and his work is stellar!

C&H is both our full-service landscape maintenance company and also who we used to completely redesign and re-landscape our front yard. They have been absolutely exceptional in both. As far as landscape maintenance, it is wonderful to have one company that does absolutely everything to keep our yard looking great. They are reliable and detail oriented, many times noticing and fixing or adjusting things we did not. I also find their services reasonably priced for the amount of time and attention they give to our yard. As a landscape design and installation provider, they have transformed the front yard and it nearly looks like a different house. They provide great advice and are very thoughtful about what to plant, where, and why. We've learned a ton from them. They also have been very responsive to our many requests and tweaks and continue to show great care for the yard. They are quite simply the best landscape company I've ever worked with and well worth the money.

Dan gave us a fair price for our project. We were so impressed with his punctuality, professionalism, and flexibility that we hired him for 5 others projects within the first week of the barn project. I have recommended him to several friends and family members looking for projects to be completed around their homes. Dan and his crew have become our "go to" team. They are the best. The inspector said the framing on the barn was the best he had ever seen. The barn will outlive us! HIRE DAN for your projects. He is the best. He does everything, building, fencing, gutters, etc. CALL HIM!

I have been debating for a while as to whether or not I should hire someone to maintain my yard and help with landscaping ideas. Juan did a fantastic job - cutting, edging, trimming, weed eating and help take growing vine off my fence. He will be helping me set pavers to my pool and help relocate some bushes to crest a nice landscape. He did a lot of extras. He is VERY reasonable!!! I added additional $ for his first visit. I now have him coming back every two weeks. Thanks Juan

Dee with Georgia Fence Division was the most professional individual I have dealt with in a long time. He restored my faith in creating a project and hiring on Thumbtack. I was so impressed with his work I’m trying to find other fencing projects for him to do and have already recommended him to family and friends. He’s polite, courteous, prompt, a man of honor, and genuine. His handiwork shows he excels in his skills. We can’t stop smiling when looking at our beautiful fence. The fence was destroyed years ago when a drunk driver ran into it making it a public nuisance. Dee restored it and made the ugliest part of it new again. He even went over and above his quote to straighten out other parts of the existing fence so that it was sturdy. The quotes I got for the fence repair was ridiculous. Just for the 25 feet hole in the structure was grossly more than what Georgia Fence Division quote was for repair of the entire fence. And the quotes that I thought I could work with, the companies were hard to reach back to start the project. Georgia Fence Division quote was so reasonable. I couldn’t believe the 6 quotes before them. Dee told me he was coming at 9am to start the project, but got to my home at 8:30am and without bothering me or interrupting my day begun prepping for the repair. He also made it very convenient to pay him. I can’t say enough about how please I am with the results.

2hires owner Kieth is very polite, responsive and understanding. His goal is to make sure the job is done right and to the customers satisfaction. I did have some installation issue with getting my single door to a double door installed. The Workman ship was rushed and the initial install was done poorly. With that said Keith assured me he will make it right. This caused a significant delay in completion. Keith sent a new set of installers to correct the installation, as well as the staining. This process was a pleasure the installers took their time and resolved the issues. I also hand the staining done by Greg’s Pro Painting who was sent by Keith. Keith and his crew did a great job with staining the mahogany doors. To the point where I hired him to repaint my garage door. At the end of it all the doors are installed and I am satisfied.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
  • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
  • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
  • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

  • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
  • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
  • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
  • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
  • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
  • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
  • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
  • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.
