FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I take professional development classes attend workshops and seminars, and also read educational trade magazines.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always like working with children. I taught gymnastics to children when I was a teenager. While going to college I worked in a child care center, but went into business instead of education because I thought I would try to follow the money. Once I had my own children I was a stay at home mom. I was a volunteer in my children's classrooms, PTO President and a mentor to a little boy in my daughters first grade class. It was after I mentored this student and helped him with his lessons that I decided I really loved working in the classroom and wanted to be a teacher.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Many think that people choose teaching because you have the summer off. I wish this was true but as soon as school is out I am starting to work on the next year. I reflect on what went well the past year and what didn't go as planned. Then I begin to work on lesson plans and classroom management ideas for the following year.
