Introduction: My performance and teaching experience helps me to offer a unique learning experience to my students. Students will not only learn how to play double bass or bass guitar but they will also learn about everything that is required to succeed as a professional musician. I have bachelors and masters degrees in music so I can also teach music theory, jazz theory, ear training, and arranging. I have played bass on many different types of gigs and each one requires something different. Even if a student doesn't want to play bass professionally I can help them to improve their skills on the instrument. I tailor each of my lessons to my students. I have a teaching method and a curriculum that I use but I am willing to modify that teaching method to focus on what the student wants to learn. I really enjoy being able to help my students learn to play bass and piano as well as develop an appreciation of music. I also enjoy seeing my students grow musically.

When our youngest son acquired a serious interest in learning double bass, Chris was one of the instructors recommended to us. He has a diverse musical background professionally and academically. Nearly two years later, our son has continued to study and make progress in musical theory, technique, performance, and general appreciation of the instrument. Part of the trick with kids is to keep them interested and inspired. Chris has been able to teach our son how-to-practice, tune the instrument, warm up, practice techniques and fundamentals, how to use tools like i-phone apps get the most out of the time spent. Finally, Chris is not just teaching the theory, he is himself a top-notch performer and a recording artist. Our family has seen Chris perform w/ Jazz groups at local venue’s like the Velvet Note which was inspiring for our son and helped to enrich the teacher/student connection.

Chris is an amazing musician and instructor! I chose him because he is a practicing musician with many years of experience. I took so much from his lessons and had fun as well. Chris provides more than just a lesson, in addition he shares his many years of experience and has created a well rounded learning program. I felt guilty not paying more!

Chris is a great teacher and an even better musician. Primarily a jazz player, he is also very knowledgeable about classical technique and focuses on the fundamentals. Though he does not have a specific curriculum, he always provides expert advice on any repertoire for any level of player. Chris is highly professional and an all-around great guy, and you'll always take something away from his lessons.

Chris is a phenomenal bass player and a great instructor. I have been taking lessons with him for a few months now. Being a beginner upright bass player and new to bowing technique, he has been patient and considerate with me. He is extremely observant, careful in his critiquing, and is able to break techniques down to their simplest form, which facilitates in understanding and implementing the technique sooner. I always come away feeling accomplished and improved as a musician after each lesson. I recommend Chris no matter what stage you are in your musical career.
