FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
As individuals, each of us has different needs, goals, gifts and challenges. Based on this belief, I begin to work with clients by understanding their circumstances and then working collaboratively to create a plan that works for them. After an initial discussion with clients, I conduct an assessment to establish where they are at physically, emotionally and motivationally. Because coaching is such a personal experience, I also like to use the first meeting with clients to determine whether we mutually have a good personality fit. It is more enjoyable to work with someone with whom you like to spend time!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Certified Fitness Trainer, certified through ISSA (International Sports Science Association). (Received in January 2015). ISSA is the industry leading first fitness organization in the U.S. to be accredited by a federally recognized agency. They are accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC). The International Sports Sciences Association is also an National Board of Fitness Examiners (NBFE) Affiliate. Besides, my personal trainining certification, I hold a Masters Degree in Organizational Development, which has provided me with extensive knowledge and experience in business, career, and personal coaching.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been a runner for over 20 years, a fitness junkie for at least 15, and nutritious-food lover all my life. I also enjoy writing about and sharing ideas for better living. My transformation towards living well so far has been long and bumpy, but I recognize that the journey never ends and that the road to better health is well worth taking. After working on my own fitness and health, my love of fitness inspired me to further study and practice fitness training by earning my Personal Trainer Certification through International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA). I have brought my fitness and wellness mentality to work all my life! I founded and managed my organizational consulting practice for over 13 years before moving on to create an upscale Vacation Property Rental & Wellness Concierge Services business that caters to fitness and nutrition clients. As founder of my consulting business and now APN Lodging, I have worked with clients to help them align their business and personal goals with their passions. My guiding philosophy in business, and generally in life, is that people have a genuine desire to make meaningful contributions and be recognized as unique in some way. Thus, when organizations or individuals create supportive environments to nurture those essential desires, there are no limits to what people can achieve. If you want to be healthy, fit and happy, you are the key to making those things happen!
