Introduction: My focus as a yoga teacher is to create space for participants to find a sense of calm and ease through the physical practice of yoga asana. I teach beginners to experienced practitioners and I’ve taught in a variety of venues from gyms to private clubs, public parks, beaches, and private residences. My own practice started in the early 2000’s on a casual basis. In 2017, I started a dedicated and deepening practice of Yoga and was so moved by the small changes I started to experience in my life, that I wanted to share it with others. I completed 200 hours of Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) in 2019 and went on to complete my 300-hour YTT in 2021. I’ve been teaching since 2019 and am a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance (RYT 500). I am also trained and experienced in teaching trauma-informed yoga and restorative yoga. Every body is different and everyday, our own body is different, so I do my best to make individual and group sessions accessible and meaningful. Genie is very knowledgeable yoga instructor. She gives very clear directions along with key points to do each pose correctly. She varies the focus of each class which keeps it fresh.

Genie is a top-notch Hatha Yoga instructor. I have taken many yoga classes over the last 10+ years. I have had a number of outstanding instructors (and some not so great). Genie is very good, offering variations based on experience level and protecting injured areas. I always feel safe and calm and supported when I take a class from Genie Barker.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing varies. For example, you and a partner could sign up for a session together for the same price as a one-to-one meeting. I teach small groups as well (3 or more) with pricing dependent upon group size.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Before we meet for our first session, I’ll send an assessment form for you to complete and return prior to our appointment. Your input will give me an idea of your interests and experience.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am registered with Yoga Alliance as an RYT 500. In addition, I am trained and experienced in teaching restorative yoga and trauma-informed yoga.
