Irene's Cleaning service is the best experience I've had with a cleaning company, and I've hired several individuals and companies over the past 15 years. They worked around my schedule and did a one time deep clean, which was superb. The best! They moved furniture to vacuum and clean carpets and hardwood floors. They washed interior windows, cleaned multiple refrigerators, the stove and much more. Our home is 3 levels with over 3000 sf of living space. We also have 4 cats and 1 dog, all inside. Due to my work schedule, the house had been neglected and was in the worst shape. Irene's Cleaning team made it spotless in one day and at a great price! When I got home from work that night, and saw their incredible work, I can honestly say I hadn't felt that happy in a long time. The place was beautiful and smelled amazing. If you are looking for a trustworthy cleaning service, that delivers the best results, contact Irene's Cleaning. You won't be sorry.

We have a large home with children and pets. We have had to terminate other cleaning services due to quality of work that did not meet our expectations and needs. We are very pleased with Missy's work and will be having her back. --Johnston, IA

I have had numerous companies come in and attempt to clean my house but I have never had the pleasure of dealing with some most thorough kind ladies that pay attention to detail that go way way beyond the call of duty with the cleaning of knickknacks cracks and crevices and just a very thorough cleaning . I have never been happier I just like to sit in my living room and look around at how beautiful and really is after they left. If you use any other house cleaning service which I have used another one on thumbtack with the two ladies pictured and nobody I've had in my house come close to what these Ladies did I cannot wait for them to come out again as I want them once a month you have to try them if you use a cleaning service I assure you you will never go back to who you were using prior . They are kind considerate fair priced and you will be so glad you tried them . They can work around your schedule and all I can say is I highly recommend them .

I needed gutters cleaned that were moderately dirty but a couple downspouts on the upper level, in particular, that were very bad. Timely work done and done well. Downspouts were unplugged using his chimney rotary brush followed by a leaf blowing of all the gutters and most of this occurred on the second story gutters. Now we don't have to watch our gutters on the upper level overflowing when it rains. Very competitive rates compared to others Thank you, Kerry and Gary!

I could not be more pleased with the garden clean up and mulching that Brightlite Construction did for me today. Richard was responsive to my requests and added fresh ideas himself. We started the process a week ago and it was finished today. I would highly recommend his business.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do you pay for house cleaning?

Hiring a professional house cleaning service is a helpful way to have a healthy home even when your work and personal schedule is packed. House cleaning prices vary based on how many square feet your home is, how dirty your house gets, and how often the cleaning service comes. Some companies charge a set amount — such as 5 cents — per square foot, with a minimum amount, such as $100. The national average cost for house cleaning ranges between $110 and $150. Prices can be lower in areas with a lower cost of living, higher in big cities or affluent regions. You may save money by increasing the frequency of your house cleaning visits. Often a company will charge you less per cleaning when you schedule more cleanings per month. The cost advantage rewards your loyalty, and also reflects the fact that more frequent cleanings make it easier to maintain a high level of cleanliness in your home. A housecleaning service may charge more for the first visit or for one-time services than for recurring cleanings.

Do you need to clean your air ducts?

Air duct cleaning is done by heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) professionals. The pros use industrial-strength, truck-mounted vacuums and powerful brushes and hoses to clean inside the metal ducts that make up your forced air heating and cooling system. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends duct cleaning if there is “substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface ducts, ducts that are infested with vermin such as rodents or insects, or ducts that are clogged with excessive amounts of dust and debris and/or particles are actually released into the home from your supply registers.”

You should also have air ducts cleaned after recent water contamination or water damage to prevent mold; after renovations or remodeling to ensure debris and dust didn’t settle in the vents and ducts; if you are having problems with allergies or asthma; or when you are moving into a newly purchased home, especially if the previous owners smoked or had pets. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) recommends getting your air ducts cleaned every three to five years, or every two to three years in regions where homeowners use their air conditioning and heater for many months of the year, while the EPA suggests homeowners have duct cleaning done as needed.

How often should you get your air ducts cleaned?

How often you should clean your air ducts depends on your situation. If you or someone in the home has asthma or is acutely allergic to certain airborne materials or pollen, regular duct cleaning may be helpful. The Environmental Protection Agency doesn’t have an official position on the necessity of air duct cleaning unless the ducts have been contaminated by rodents, insects or mold, or you are aware of particles blowing out through the vents. The EPA recommends you have your air ducts cleaned on an as-needed basis. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) suggests having air ducts cleaned every three to five years.

Be cautious with companies that offer “whole house air duct cleaning,” urges the NADCA. The company may be using unscrupulous tactics to upsell you once they get started. Before any work begins, always clarify in writing what the job entails and what the cost will be. To protect yourself against fraud, read customer reviews and verify that your HVAC cleaning service has applicable licenses and certifications.

How much does it cost to deep clean a house?

Deep cleaning a house goes beyond the surface level to clear out the dust, grime and gunk that’s collecting on the fan blades, hiding in the blinds, and built up inside the refrigerator drawers. Deep cleaning of a home or apartment costs more than regular house cleaning because it takes more time, effort, and cleaning products. You may choose to have a deep cleaning once or several times a year in addition to your standard cleaning services. You may have a one-time deep cleaning to prepare for company or to clean after a house party. Companies may charge an hourly rate or a price per square foot, or may offer you a flat rate after they have visited your home and estimated work time. The national average house cleaning price is $110-$150, with rates ranging higher for deep-cleaning services. Here are some examples of how a company may calculate their deep-cleaning prices:

  • 10 cents per square foot (compared with 5 cents per square foot for standard house cleaning).
  • $300 for a 3,000-square-foot home.
  • $25 per hour per worker for deep-cleaning services.

How much does it cost to replace air ducts in a house?

If your air ducts have been damaged, you’ll need to replace them. The national average air duct replacement cost is $150-$280, which may not include materials. Factors such as duct material, labor, location of ducts and linear feet of ductwork will all affect your final costs. Labor costs will vary based on how accessible the ducts are and what material your ducts are made of. The least expensive duct material is a flexible, non-metallic ducting that costs approximately $1-$2 per linear foot. Flexible aluminum is generally more expensive and stronger than non-metallic ducting. Stainless steel ducting is the strongest, the least flexible (meaning installing it typically has higher labor rates), and usually the most expensive. An average price for air duct replacement could range between $35 and $55 per linear foot, including basic materials and labor. A typical single-family home has 6-10 duct runs; replacing or installing one duct run could average $150-$250 for labor.
