Kawa Farms K-9 Training has been working with me and my beautiful boarder collie now for over a month and she is learning all kinds of positive behaviors, thanks to Kawa Farms. The instructors truley listen to your needs as a pet owner and are 100% willing to do whatever it takes to make you and your pet reach your goals together. The thing I like best is that they understand each breed of dog and actually work with you to understand your pets behavior. I have full confidence that they have the knowledge and skills to provide superior training that will lead to a healthy and happy relationship with you and your pet for years to come.

We boarded our dog with Brett at Mischeivous K9 in March 2013 while on a 10 day vacation. This is a very nice facility. Especially like the large indoor/outdoor kennels. Your dog has lots of room to move around and can go freely from inside to outside. Brett spent time with our dog every day. He even taught him new tricks/commands during his stay. We feel our dog is well taken care of here. Brett is caring and committed to the animals he takes care of and we feel lucky to have a place to leave our dog that we feel good about. We were so impressed to learn of Brett's knowledge and expertise in training dogs, we have since hired him for obedience and protection training.

OK, let’s face it, Gringo, my German Shepherd, is very spoiled! He is my “baby”. The owner, Brett, says he is a “wuss”….but doesn’t hold it against him! He is pampered at home, so when we travel, I don’t like to have to feel guilty about leaving him. I like Mischievous K9 for boarding because this facility is always clean and smells good. Gringo’s personal kennel is large with a doggie door to go in and out whenever he pleases. It is air conditioned and heated so he stays comfortable whether it is summer or winter. Gringo gets plenty of food and treats and has water available at all times. Brett is a dog lover himself so I feel he enjoys spending one-on-one time with my dog every day he is there. Cleanliness, space, comfort, interaction and safety are the things I look for in a boarding facility and Mischievous K9 provides all of these and more! Brett will even post daily pictures and videos of your dog on Facebook so you can check in on him while you are away. We learned of Brett’s knowledge and experience with training dogs when we boarded our dog at his facility while on vacation. Our dog was a year old when we started obedience and protection training with Brett. We are totally impressed with how much our dog has learned in just the first ten weeks of training. Even others who visit our home frequently have notice the improvement in our dog’s behavior. Actually, the most difficult part has been training me, the owner!!! Our dog has caught on very quickly and Brett has been very patient trying to bring me, the owner, up to par. We look forward to working with and learning more from Brett as we continue our training. It has become very satisfying and fun and has created a better relationship between me and my dog. Thanks Brett!

young, healthy adult that doesn't mind being outside in almost any weather. I also work in healthcare so I won't get grossed out by anything your pet may produce or bring home :)

I walk dogs and play with them, and I make sure that they are OK and are healthy. I make sure that they are well taken care of, and they get their playtime. I give them treats if they do sit when I tell them to sit.

We provide safe and reliable pet transport in the US. We offer ground transport, door-to-door service, multiple walks and feedings, and personal care from certified trainers and handlers.

We have a 6yr old black and tan coonhound, a 4yr old American Leopard Hound, and a 3 yr old Great Dane in our family. I enjoy and love the companionship of a loyal dog. Roxy, our black and tan, was my 1st coonhound, got her at 6 weeks from a sketchy breeder (didnt know at the time). I put my heart and and soul into this dog, every spare second i could get was spent training, shes the most hard headed dog I ever met. I almost gave up on her, but after a long and frustrating 14 months, i was finally able to flip a switch, and shes been treeing ever since. Over 360 coons behind her to date. I trust her more than most people I know which is hard to beat and that kind of loyalty is priceless. I provide basic pet sitting, possibly a few days of care at my home, basic training, commands, i can break your dog of pulling you down the street, coon/squirrel/pheasant/ and waterfowl training. I've also efficently trained retrievers, labs, pointers, spaniels, danes, redbone, mountain curr, doxin, shepherds, and the list goes on. I prefer to work with medium to xl dogs. Nothing more frustrating or embarrassing than your dog dragging you down the street chasing a rabbit. Let's break those bad habits.

We love all pets! We groom all breeds of dogs and cats. Handsome Hounds is a home-based pet grooming shop based in Adel. We handle your pet like we would want ours handled. Check out our paparazzi page on our website or on Facebook to see grooming photos.

I absolutely love animals and have 5 pets, 1 of which is my canine best friend. I have great experience with aggressive breed dogs, large and small. I am very patient and agree that dogs respond to a certain type of care. My ultimate goal is to gain a career in animal housing and care. I am a full supporter of breed equality. I have sat for family members and close friends in the past, and recently realized that I could provide those services to others who need them. I have a few regular clients, and have a 5-star Rover review. I have a great respect for the different methods of training/raising an animal and have a vast knowledge of animal care and breed types. I am available during the day and on weekends. I am in college and have a full-time job, but will go out of my way to accommodate. A great business relationship with you will turn into a great friendship with your dog(s). Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does boarding a horse cost?

Finding the right horse boarding location is a big step in a horse owner’s life. This will be the place your horse will live and where you will visit multiple times per week or even daily. The cost of horse boarding will depend on the level of service you desire, the location of the stables, and the luxury level of the property. Here are some examples of average horse boarding costs:

  • Overnight stabling: $30 per horse per night.
  • Partial boarding (owner feeds and mucks): $220 per horse per month, with a three-month commitment.
    • Administration of oral medication: $10 per dose.
    • Bandaging: $20 per event, plus cost of materials.
    • Trailering to vet if owner is unable: $25, plus $25 per hour to wait with horse.
  • Basic full boarding: $325-$350 per month per horse. Includes twice daily hay and daily stall cleaning.
    • Horse training: $20 per session.
    • Pasture turn out: $20 per session.
    • Blanketing: $1 per day/$30 per month.
    • Vet or farrier hold: $20. This means haltering the horse and standing with it as it receives treatment or shoeing.

Where can I board my horse?

You can board your horse at any barn or stable that provides horse boarding services. To find horse boarding near you, read reviews of area locations and speak with equestrian friends to find one with a solid reputation. Ideally, the location will be within a reasonable drive from your home or office. This is especially important if you are paying for partial boarding services and are responsible for feeding your horse and cleaning its stall each day. You may choose your boarding barn or stables based on the services they provide. Some offer more extensive amenities — at an added price — that reduce the amount of work you need to do to keep your horse comfortable. Consider whether you want training, blanketing, exercise and other perks in addition to standard offerings like hay and stable mucking. Your stable may have temperament requirements and proof that your horse has the proper vaccinations required by your state. This protects both your horse and the other horses in the stable. Many states require that locations offering horse boarding services have stable licenses that are renewed each year. Always be sure to enter into a clearly written boarding contract that will cover your horse and belongings in case of accident, and remember our tips for smart hiring.

What is horse boarding?

Horse boarding is like rental housing for your horse. Horse boarding is helpful for people who don’t have the space or the resources to install and maintain a stable on their property. A horse can be housed in a barn with other horses and receive the care they need. Owners can visit their horse for riding, grooming, training, etc. Horse boarding services may vary based on the company and the price. Some horse boarders may offer short-term boarding of 24 hours to several nights for people passing through an area, while most offer boarding by the month for horses whose owners live in the area. There is partial- and full-service boarding, which indicates how much of the work of feeding the horse and cleaning the stall is the responsibility of the owner rather than the boarding barn. For an added fee, horse boarding can also include grooming services, riding and training, medication administration, and more.

To find the right boarding fit for you and your horse, make a list of your top priorities. These might include immediate access to riding trails, round-the-clock supervision, or a nearby or affiliated veterinarian. Always visit the site to learn exactly where your horse will be kept and whether the barn and grounds are in good condition. Read reviews, and always practice smart hiring. It’s also critical to sign the proper legal documents that protect both you and your horse, such as boarding agreements. Above all, make sure it seems like a place your horse will be comfortable between your visits.
