Sue did an amazing job, both officiating the ceremony on our wedding day and providing guidance and expertise during the planning phase! She was completely open to our hopes for our ceremony and really focused on infusing who we are as a couple into the day. She checked in on us frequently during the months leading up to the wedding to see if we had any questions or to collaborate on the ceremony. We highly recommend Sue to anyone wanting a caring, calm, professional officiant on their wedding day!Jul 19, 2018Verified

I appreciated how well Sue answered questions and guided me through filling out paperwork. I felt really confident and at ease that our ceremony would go smoothly. I am however dissatisfied with what happened on my wedding day. Throughout the entire ceremony, my name was said WRONG. My husband and I even corrected it hoping she would take the hint (as we said our vows) and through the whole thing it was said wrong. When we were filling out our paperwork, we were left as she chatted with our guests which is fine, but i would have preferred her seated next to us because we did not want to make a mistake (in our wedding video I am constantly calling her over to make sure we filled out paperwork correctly) Overall happy with the outcome (marrying my husband of course) but dissatisfied with the service that was received.Nov 10, 2020VerifiedSunrise Chapel Des Moines's reply
Dzenisa, hello and thank you for posting your review, I am so sorry about the dissatisfaction you felt during your wedding ceremony and I do so apologize about mispronouncing your name, although I tried hard to put the emphasis on the proper way to pronounce it, I did fall short. Although I usually don't sit beside the bride and groom while they sign the license, (as I don't want to appear in the photographs), I typically stay very close by as I do pick up the license right after signing by all parties, so I do apologize for any failure on my part that brought any disappointment to either of you. I so enjoyed meeting you and your families and again thank you for your feedback.

Sue was great! Not only was she very responsive, helpful, and a kind hearted women but she cared about my husband and I and our wedding in every aspect. She traveled a long way to be apart of our rehearsal and of course wedding with no complaints and always on time. Sue took every detail I wanted for a untraditional wedding and made it sound like it was always suppose to be that way. She was by far my easiest vendor to deal with and kept things clean, crisp and organized. She blended right in with our friends and family along with keeping everyone in the loop on what to do, giving great direction and answering any questions anyone had. She didn't leave the rehearsal until everyone felt confident about what their duties and responsibilities were for the ceremony. And finally, she did a phenomenal job during the real wedding ceremony. I am very greatful that I found Sue on thumbtack to officiate my wedding! Thank you Sue!!!Sep 18, 2017Verified

The most reasonable person I've communicate with, I haven't even had my ceremony yet and I love her already if anyone haven't found an officiant yet she is definitely highly recommend especially if it's your first time planning a wedding. I wish I could give more than five stars!!!!!!Oct 24, 2016Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? The pricing varies depending on the location, prices increase with distance traveled, if there are discounts in place, ex; military, senior. I do price rehearsal fees separately as many couples do have a change in plans on rehearsals.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Responding to a customer (bride and groom) request for an officiant to determine what they are looking for in a ceremony; non denominational, non religious etc, offering them a price that includes; preparing and performing the ceremony, unlimited communication, offering a sample draft of their ceremony, traveling to their venue and handling their license post ceremony. Rehearsals (desired by the couple) are priced separately.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?No not really, just communicating with others in the profession, such as wedding consultants, florists that serve the wedding industry. Also I don't hesitate to consult with any religious leaders if appropriate for couples requesting particular religious excerpts in the ceremony. I guess "on the job" would the best way to describe it.
