Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Every job I do, I act like I am working in and on my own home. The quality of work I am doing for a client isn't the same caliber that I expect in my home. There have been times where I have repaired or resolved an issue that the actual builder of the home was unable to. I also warranty my work for six months. Additionally, this year I have decided that I will be donating 10% of my profits to help disabled Veterans! I enjoy helping see the finished product of a clients vision. There are times where a small tweak will make the outcome that much better. If I see something, I will suggest it and explain why I think it would improve the outcome of the project.

After high winds damaged my roof, I contacted several area businesses for estimates. Jim Tate was responsive, professional, and courteous. Not only did he work with my insurance company to ensure the claim covered the necessary repairs, but he made a point to check in with me when a second round of high winds passed through the area in case any additional damage occurred. Not only was the work he did of excellent quality, but his honesty and work ethic convinced me I made the right decision. When the forecast called for a chance of showers he put in extra hours, working past sunset to ensure my roof was protected from the elements. As the roof replacement progressed he made a point to keep me informed of the project status, especially when a delayed shipment of materials was going to affect the original timeline. I personally feel it is important to support local businesses, and I'm thrilled to support a veteran-owned business that donates a percentage of its profits to the local veterans' hospital. Jim Tate and JET Services will be my first call for any project in the future.

Job was to repaint existing colors on exterior of home. Jet Services and Jim Tate should never be included as an exterior painter on your website. I believe he had never painted the exterior of a house before. He "completed" the painting of my siding in one, 8-hour day. The paint job was blotchy and had drips. No surface preparation was evident; no precautions for safeguarding my property were taken when he chose to use a paint sprayer on my siding, so every vinyl and aluminum window frame and every window screen has paint on it; he got paint on my deck and concrete; never used a drop cloth or rag. When he returned to "fix" the paint job, I told him he may not spray-paint anymore on my property and he still went ahead and did so, further marring my property with paint drift. He oversprayed all the trim areas on the house so that I now need to buy twice as much in labor and materials to paint the trim. Due to his lack of surface prep, my home will need to be repainted much sooner than a professional job should require. Mr. Tate claimed to have applied for insurance for his business, waiting to hear back from his agent, but he never provided any proof of insurance. I am extremely disappointed that he is allowed to be gaining people's trust through your website, and I now question your "pro"-matching service.

Jim gave us an accurate quote, helped us pick out the perfect material, and finished the job on over the weekend on very short notice. He did an outstanding, professional job. He also gave us very helpful advice about our house. Thank you.

Kitchen Remodel

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started out in 1991 working with a sub contractor for Sears, installing vinyl siding. I really enjoyed that summer, but didn't think of being a contractor as a career. I joined the Marines, and through the ensuing years helped a lot of people with their homes. When I moved to Iowa, I started doing more and more jobs for friends and family. Up to and including full bathroom and kitchen remodels. I realized then, that I had the potential to turn my hobby into a career!

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

Last summer I did an entire kitchen remodel. Complete with removing a wall, and building a custom breakfast bar.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Get at least three detailed bids. Keep in mind the lowest bidder may not be the best! Ask questions about types of materials, and their differences! Don't be afraid to ask for references. I have a list of references available upon request.
