FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is not extremely complicated, but I get asked questions about group rates all the time from college students. I normally charge a flat $20/hour for one-on-one tutoring. I drop the price down to $10/hour/person for group rates so a group of two is $20/hour, a group of three is 10 each, $30/hour and so on. In my experience, unless you have a set study group or study buddy, one-on-one is the way to go.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Calculus and pre calculus are by far the most common math classes which need my services. I suppose at around this time the algebra work is beginning to get cumbersome for those who weren't strong in it. I also see several discrete students, because the diversity of subjects covered.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Remember that a tutor isn't there to solve homework problems, but to help the pupil develop the ability to solve their own problems. If you go away from tutoring lessons with answers, but not knowing how to solve the problems there is a big problem, because what about the test? There are lots of tutors out there, find the one that's right for you.
