- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We begin with a 1 1/2 hour training and coaching session. We take time to know you and your dog and what your expectations are. We then review all of the positive training options to get you there. Next we address your most important training issue and demonstrate what we can do. After the session we follow up with a written instruction plan covering what was done and homework for you and your dog. We also offer coaching and consultations for clients for the life of their dog.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a certified trainer with 20 years of experience. In addition to the experience that comes with owning several dogs I have been the trainer for a large shelter working with all types of dogs and training volunteers. After graduating from Animal Behavior College in 2000 and serving a training internship at Paws Chicago I started Black Dog K9 Training. I study and read everyday to stay current with the latest techniques. I am a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and the Ian Dunbar Sirius Dog Training Academy. I have also studied business and psychology at Moraine Valley College.
