David is a wonderful teacher! I had been away from singing for a number of years before beginning with David. The offer of a 30 min free trial lesson was very helpful and I could tell that we clicked. He takes the time to thoroughly explain concepts and theories of vocal techniques in a comprehensive manner. He allows you to ask questions throughout the lesson, and since I didn't have any music to work on, he provided several options. With his superb instruction, my confidence and my voice have returned. I look forward to working with David and I would encourage students of all levels to reach out to him for vocal instruction!

Our daughter (Kivi) started with the recorder in 4th grade, and soon graduated to clarinet. By Middle School, she was taking lessons from a classical teacher who advanced her skills markedly. Upon reaching high school, she was in demand by the jazz band - whose leader persuaded her to take up the saxophone. Kivi loved the sax, and loved jazz, but clarinet remained her first instrument. I thought of the great jazz clarinet players: Pete Fountain at the top of a substantial list. But we could find no one who could teach jazz clarinet. Finally, we attended an event at VanderCook, and one of the presenters gave us Jon's name. Kivi studied with Jon for about two years. I was disappointed with the amount of time Kivi had to spend practicing Jon's lessons - what high schooler has time for anything? Nevertheless, Kivi learned a great deal from Jon, and was the only student to ever perform a clarinet solo in our high school's jazz band history ("Jack the Bear"). Jon was unique in my experience in that he taught what Kivi wanted to learn - rather than imposing a rigid course of instruction. If you are considering private lessons that offer something both valuable and unique, please look no further than Jon Novi.

My two sons, 5 & 7, love learning from Mr. Bob! He’s very patient with the kids and talented with multiple instruments (piano, guitar, drums). He holds high expectations for his students, which allows my kids to progress rather quickly. I’ve been very happy with having Mr. Bob as their music teacher; the boys always look forward to going to music lessons.

Elif is a very skilled piano teacher for our son, who came to her already knowing piano but still wanting to better his skills. Lessons are in her beautiful home, set up specifically for piano lessons. Elif is able to listen to and watch his playing, determine what skills he needs, and how to stretch his innate abilities. My son enjoys his lessons very much--which is saying a lot! He leaves feeling enthusiastic about what he just learned, and excited about trying it out. We are very grateful to have found her, and highly recommend her as often as we can.

My daughter started piano lessons with Stacey just a month ago but she is so excited every week to go. We have been very happy with how Stacey has progressed her - continually adding more difficult pieces to work on to see what she can do. This is our first experience w music lessons of any type and we are really happy with Stacey De & Co! Even my son, who never wants to try anything new, has started asking about taking drum lessons there. We couldn't be happier :)

It was great to have David as a teacher and as a new friend. I definitely could see his passion for drumming and I learned so much from him. Before, I couldn't even think about moving my hands differently to my legs, but now I am able to and in only a short amount of time! I loved learning different music genres from David from bossa nova to funk rock to pure jazz. Loved it all and wish I could continue! Thank you so much, David!!!

Mrs. Reynolds is an exceptional teacher when it comes to singing. I have been taking lessons from her for ten years now, and have grown immensely with both technically and with a sense of musicality. I respect Mrs. Reynolds not only for her own incredible talent, but also for her ability when teaching to pinpoint exactly what you are doing wrong, whether it's a lack of using your diaphragm or improper formation of a vowel, and be able to help you fix it. Mrs. Reynolds is an impeccable teacher, and I wouldn't wish to be taught by anyone else.

More than just a teacher. I took guitar lessons with Paul for eight years. He helped me realize my natural ear for music, and allowed me to figure out what I wanted to learn. Our lessons were always different. Sometimes I would bring in songs that I wanted to learn, and sometimes he would have things he thought I should know how to play, which helped me learn similar songs later on. When I was applying to college and needed to learn how to read music and play jazz guitar, he tailored all of our lessons so that I could learn those techniques quickly and most importantly, efficiently. Paul's personality transcends the teacher-student relationship, which allowed he and I to become very good friends. Paul William is an excellent teacher for whatever you need to learn. You can't go wrong taking lessons from him.

My son has only had one lesson so far, but is very excited to play and enthusiastic to practice. He has even learned Jingle Bells already! Jeremie seems to be a flexible, attentive, and patient instructor who is interested in what the kids are into music style wise. Can't wait to see how my son develops his skills!

Greg is the best! He is an incredibly talented musician. He is B able to adapt any piece to your abilities. He wants you to play pieces you're interested in. His encouragement was kind, but firm-- which is exactly what I needed. He held me to a high standard that I was eager to meet. He has a great sense of humor, which made lessons fun and stress free. I took sax lessons from Max while he was at Oberlin. He cares about his students and their musical growth. He makes even the most tedious drills fun, especially when he plays the material along with you. He's a fantastic musician as well. I miss working with him.

Corie was my daughter’s first private violin teacher, and she was the perfect foundation for not just the love of the instrument but also the precise technique and skills needed to develop a true musician. Even years later, my daughter’s current teachers are impressed with the solid foundation she received under Corie’s tutelage. Corie made learning a challenging instrument fun at an age-appropriate level without giving up on any high standards. Whether it was learning to read music, developing ear and intonation, or perfecting a bow hold, Corie had multiple ways to teach, to address habits and difficulties, and to share experiences with the larger studio in group lessons. We still use her teaching reminders and phrases during practices sessions. With Corie’s violin lessons, you get more than just basic instruction; you get a surprisingly well-rounded introduction to true musicianship.
