My daughter got married last weekend. Vicki was wonderful to work with. She was willing to play what ever we wanted, however we decided as she is the profession to allow her to pick what she loved to play. She did a beautiful job. Many compliments from our guests. I would not hesitate to hire her for your occasion.Oct 14, 2019Verified

Vicki performed on what turned out to be one of the most memorable days of my entire life. I asked her to play inside of the lobby of a helicopter concierge tour building while I proposed to my girlfriend on our Anniversary after our flight tour landed. Working with her was a true pleasure because she was flexible and more than willing to accommodate my requests. I compared pricing from multiple other violin players and she was by far the most reasonable. Vicki quoted me a very fair price because I only needed her services for less than an hour due to the nature of the situation. I was going to get down on one knee as she played 3 songs that I custom chose from a list of song suggestions that she provided. I asked her to learn my girlfriend's favorite Ed Sheeran song and performed it perfectly. Unfortunately, our helicopter tour got cancelled 4 hours before take-off due to the unexpected heavy snowfall. I had no plan B at the time and decided to ask her if she could perform outside under the Bean(Cloud Gate) in Millennium Park. My request also included pushing the performance back two hours, while it was freezing cold and snowing out. Vicki was able to seamlessly coordinate with two of my fiancé's friends to take photos and video of the entire proposal while timing everything flawlessly. Vicki deserves high praise for her reliability and adaptability during a stressful situation for me. I was not expecting her to accommodate my tall request, but she delivered on every level. I was so impressed with her professionalism and attention to detail that I insisted on tipping her to match her original performance fee she quoted.(As a side note, she never asked for any additional money when I completely changed the plan to having her perform outside in bad weather.) There are very few people that would have been willing to accommodate my requests on such short notice. Vicki contributed to an amazing night and elevated the entire experience. My fiancé and I will NEVER forget how perfect our engagement turned out and the selfless contribution that Vicki made to ensure that it was a success. I would recommend Violin by Vicki to anyone that wants to hire a talented, kind-hearted, professional that exceeds all expectations. Cheers!Dec 8, 2015Verified
I would like to highly recommend Violin by Vicki! We did extensive research for our daughter’s wedding music. We decided on a violin, viola and cello - string trio. We watched and listened to many videos online. Vicki worked with us on the music selections and was even willing to order special music, if we wanted. Her communication was stellar!! That is SO important when choosing any vendor! Sadly for us, the Coronavirus forced us to cancel the wedding but if we could, we would ABSOLUTELY hire Violin by Vicki, again!Mar 24, 2020
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I do not list prices. A price is given when a client requests a quote. There is not an hourly price, but the bulk of the pricing is always in the first hour, and then much less for additional hours. As an example, hiring a violinist for 2hrs is only $75 more than it is for 1hr.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? When a customer requests a quote, specific information such as type of music ensemble (solo, violin/guitar duo, trio, quartet), day, time, duration, and location is needed. Most communication takes place via email or phone contact if desired. I generally do not meet in person prior to the event, since audio/video clips are posted online. When a client decides they want to hire our services, I email them a contract to complete and sign. They can mail it back with the requested deposit, or they can scan/email the contract to me, and send the deposit via their mobile banking app.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?In high school and in college I studied with 2 former members of the Chicago symphony. I graduated from Sherwood Music Conservatory in Chicago (now a department of Columbia College). I was a member of the Chicago Civic Orchestra while in college, and a few years afterwards. I am a union member of the Chicago Federation of Musicians. I have been performing as solo violinists and also part of music ensembles for weddings and parties since the mid-'90's.
