Welcome to the joy of music making! I believe that every student should have the opportunity to explore a musical instrument and create music.
Music making is exciting, fun, and rewarding in so many ways. Music instills self-discipline. It incorporates both math and reading. Being an art, music stimulates creativity, logic, order, and imagination, and evokes emotion. A musician cannot function on playing notes on a printed page alone, but has to use all senses to perform music with spirit.
My teaching philosophy uses standard teaching methods along with my own personal pedagogy. Sight reading, ear training, individualized assessment, and performance techniques are essential in order to be a competent musician. Most importantly, a fun atmosphere is essential for young students to enjoy music.
Learning a musical instrument does require practicing. At least 20 minutes a day should be allotted for practice to ensure that pieces are learned and technique is practiced and mastered. Practice should always be enjoyable and rewarding.
I have a passion for teaching, bringing music and instruction to all ages.
