Mark C. says, "I have been working with Jaime for a little over 3 months and I couldn’t be happier. For two years I had been bouncing between teachers and self-teaching with little practical gains and a lot of self-doubt and frustration. As a 50+ aspiring musician/guitarist, I had a lot of desire and aspirations, but very little structure or direction. When I decided to pursue a guitar teach last November, Jaime was 1 of 5 that I interviewed (i.e. “grilled”) in the hope of finding a relatively perfect fit. After 3 weeks of trial lessons, interviews and discussions I settled on Jaime for a number of reasons: 1) flexibility of lessons – we set a standard day and time be he was willing to be flexible with my work and travel schedule; 2) flexibility of payment – he would take per-lesson or per month payment depending on my finances; 3) remote lessons – I travel quite frequently and needed someone who was not only able to do remote lessons, but was also experienced/set-up to perform those lessons; 4) philosophy – Jaime is all about “listening”, and from the first day he said that we would spend a lot of time listening to what/how I player compared to just learning the mechanics of playing; and 5) Jaime is an experienced and educated musician. From the first lesson he was able to diagnose and correct a number of mistakes I was making – how to hold the pick, string muting, alternate picking, poor beat recognition, posture. Although these first lessons were frustrating for me, his ability and willingness to correct these mistakes has paid HUGE dividends. I cannot recall how I was sitting, picking or playing 3 months ago, but I can say for a fact I am more efficient and proficient. As for the lessons, I feel we have been making steady progress. My speed is up, my ear is better, I have more confidence in my playing, and I enjoy practicing again. Not once during this time did Jaime make me feel inferior that my inexperience was a burden. He ACTIVELY listens during all my lessons – something my previous teachers did not. He sees and hears how I am playing and calls me out – good or bad – when needed. I cannot stress how important and instrumental this is in learning a new instrument – you need to catch those bad habits early and often! I feel I have a good head for music theory – but music theory doesn’t play the guitar. Jaime has helped me start to bridge the gap between knowing and doing; in the end we want to play music – not just study it. I couldn’t be happier with my decision to have Jaime as my teacher, and I look forward to what the next year(s) will bring working with him. I would endorse him to be anyone’s teacher without reservation."

Anna L. says, "I've been taking lessons with Ian for over 7 years now. We started in person on ukulele. A year in, Covid came along and we shifted to virtual. I figured I would miss the in person lessons but virtual has been amazing and now I know they can be great if done well- which he does. And it's also nice to not have to leave the house! We have a shared Dropbox folder. He sends files to see and read and even recordings to practice along with in between lessons. Also, a couple years ago, I wanted to shift to guitar and so we did and it was seamless. He took much of what I learned on ukulele and used it to help me understand the guitar better. I still take lessons with Ian to this day and I couldn't recommend him more!"

Xiaojie W. says, "The teacher has a very professional and well-structured teaching system. Each lesson is clearly organized with specific goals and steady progression. In terms of bass technique, the instruction is detailed and thorough — from fundamental finger positioning and tone control to rhythm stability. The teacher also places strong emphasis on groove and musical understanding, helping the student not only learn how to play, but truly understand how to perform. The pace of each lesson is well balanced: attentive to detail while still encouraging independent thinking and musical expression. Under the teacher’s guidance, the student has shown clear improvement in rhythmic consistency, tone control, and overall musicality. A truly dedicated, knowledgeable, and responsible instructor."
