Our girls have taken private dance classes with Jessie and she comes across as strong on technique and knows her moves. She is an excellent teacher and is making difficult steps very easy for our kids - our kids are very enamored with her and want to learn ballet and other forms more. She seems to have inculcated a passion in them - which is usually not easy to do with a strict classical dance. Very pleased with her and Natalie , the owner.

I contacted North Shore Ballroom because I was looking for a place to begin taking lessons. I had taken ballroom classes many years ago and wanted to pick it up again. Alexsander is a fantastic teacher! He is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced, and he immediately set me at ease. I had forgotten how much fun partnered dancing was until going to North Shore. I am extremely excited to continue lessons and cannot wait to see where this takes me.

I took over 6 weeks of Latin Dance classes with Mary and she is a patient, kind and gifted teacher. Most of our class was over 50 years old and had never taken lessons before. Mary made the experience fun and instructive. She is awesome!!!

I recently restarted ballroom classes after a several year hiatus. I was excited yet very nervous about restarting lessons. I lost, in my opinion, so much of my movement ability from the years without dancing and a recent Achilles tendon issue. Anna was able to get me moving...and not be as frustrated with my perfectionist self as I have been known to be. I have a goal of performing a dance later this year, and, in just a few lessons, that goal is becoming more of a reality... I highly recommend lessons with Anna...even if you are filled with self criticality...try... step outside your boundries...you'll learn more about your self, how you can push through the limits you may or may not have realized you have, and learn the grace, poise, and elegance that all of us can use as we go through this journey of life!

It was slightly difficult to find the studio in the middle of the mall. Overall, very good instruction that we enjoyed a lot. The only minor complaint I would have is that we ended about 4 minutes early to talk about signing up for classes. With that, and the fact that we started a bit late (traffic then trying to navigate the mall), I would still consider this a great value.

Charles was a fantastic instructor! My wife and I wanted to have a special salsa dance at our wedding and we had Charles help us out. We had taken some classes in the past but never constructed a full dance. Within a few classes, Charles was able to help us perfect a number of moves, constructed the whole dance for us with music, and even gave us a slower version of the music track so it matches our speed. The wedding was a lot of fun, everyone loved the dance and it looks so good on video too! Once again thanks Charles for a wonderful experience.

Learned to dance Cajun style from Louie in late 1990's. Many people who like to Cajun dance learned from Louie. He is patient, fun, personable and able to break down steps easily. Great teacher. I've also seen him teach other styles of dancing with equal talent.

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do dance lessons cost?

Adults who want to learn to dance, whether to prepare for a wedding or to meet new people, often enjoy taking dance lessons from an experienced dance instructor. Instructors may offer classes one-on-one to individual students or couples, or to small groups. The national average cost for a dance instructor ranges from $30 to $50. Some studios offer a discounted introductory lessons or group lessons, as well as package deals that are more affordable than paying for individual lessons. Some dance instructors will travel to the student’s home, which usually costs more, while others hold small-group sessions in their studios.
