Sometimes it's tough to know where to turn when your dog needs training. There are many methods and theories that relate to training your dog and most trainers and facilities stick to one type or method -- a "one size fits all" approach. With My Personal Dog Trainer, your dog will receive professional in-home training, whether it is in your home or ours, that is customized to suit the needs of your family and your pet in a private setting. You will have your own personal dog trainer who understands that just like people, every dog learns differently and at its own pace. We believe the method should fit the dog instead of forcing the dog to fit the method. Therefore, we use a variety of training methods based on your dog's unique personality and circumstances that will result in the happy, well-mannered dog you deserve.

Do you want your pup treated with the same love, care and attention that you would give? But not all pet service companies are the same. We confidently stand by our statement that we have the best trained care specialists in the city. Why? We take a heaping dose of dog lover, add a dash of detailed training with our professional dog trainer, spice that up with field training where we give our walkers the chance to experience and learn from real-world exposure in all different scenarios with all types of dogs. Now, that is why we can say we have the best trained professionals in the city! Your dog is our dog, and we stand by that sentiment in the way we love and care for them. We are proud to to say that we are changing the standards for pet services.

Mel is the best dog trainer around! She is helping train my chow puppy, who is having a hard time potty training! But I know she will fix the problem and he will be the best companion, she had doing all basic commands at 12 weeks!!! She really has a way with dogs!!! I would recommend her to anyone in need of an AMAZING trainer!!!!

Prior to getting our dog, I saw Jesse walking down Michigan Avenue with 4 dogs (3 off leash, 1 on leash). In total amazement we stared as these four dogs followed his every move—when Jesse stopped at a cross walk they all stopped and sat, when he walked, they walked. I joked that we had just spotted the “Chicago dog whisper!” Months later we got Keenan, a 12 week-old Irish Retriever (1/2 Irish setter-1/2 Golden Retriever). I had grown up with English Setters and had even had one as an adult, so I was familiar with the challenges of training this; high energy, stubborn, prey driven, and oddly sensitive breed. I immediately started training Keenan off leash so he could explore, hunt and run—at a time when he could still easily be caught. By the time Keenan was nine months old, people frequently stopped me in Chicago and commented on “how well trained” he was. However, despite every attempt we could not squash Keenan’s propensity to pull, zigzag and dart forward while he was on a leash. Over a six month period we worked diligently to address that behavior through; collars, treats, abrupt turns, gentle leaders, harness, clickers, whistles, high value treats, pulling back, stopping, I read several books on dog training, watched countless YouTube videos, and even went to a seminar where a different Chicago dog trainer discussed “Loose Leash Walking”—nothing had a lasting effect. To intensify our frustration Keenan started to go through his second “fear stage”. During this time our once sweet, shy puppy, changed into unpredictable and reactive dog—barking, growling and snapping at random dogs (sometimes in response and other times for no apparent reason). I knew it was time to call a professional when I no longer trusted or knew how Keenan would react in particular settings. We met with Jesse (Canine Perspective) in late November 2014, we were immediately impressed with his insight into Keenan’s personality as well as his philosophy and plan for addressing it. I am so thankful we invested our time and money into hiring Jesse. Everyday new situations arise; some I know how to address because of Jesse, and others I still need his help with. Life is stressful enough, I want my time with my dog to be fun & relaxing—Jesse has taught us how it can be!

Roki's Raw Food This limited diet has holistic natural ingredients that are made fresh from local farms and businesses. The meat has been ground and includes bones and organs that are essential to your pet's diet. Fresh vegetables and healthy oils have been re-hydrated and added to the meat, along with joint and immune support including flax seeds, chia seeds, and glucosamine powder. This is a homemade product. Behavior Consultations Our behavior consultations usually run from 2 to 3 hours and take place at your home. We will spend some time discussing the issues at hand and the theories we will install to help make the rehabilitation possible. By the end of the session, you will have a structured program to follow, and a better understanding of your dog. You will have tools to work with, and most importantly how to effectively communicate with your dog. Each consultation includes a follow up visit. Constructive Socialization Dog parks are excellent places to socialize and exercise your dogs most of the time, but they can be unsafe and extremely messy. Just like kids, dogs need order to compliment the chaos if the humans in the house want any peace and quiet. We send our kids to school so why not send your dog? We have daily exercise and overnight options to help you on your path to a balanced pack. Services include pack walks and day stays. Please inquire about our socialization services to learn more about the requirements. Board & Train Do you have a new dog? Are you going out of town? Does your dog have aggression or phobias? Do you need behavior modification? I offer a boarding option that is fun and structured for all dogs. The best part about living with the pack is that no matter how long the stay, your dog will always learn something. If you can relate to any one of the questions above, then I urge you to leave your dog with us. Each day is structured with plenty of exercise, training, and socialization. Dogs will have access to indoor and outdoor facilities for more than 12 hours a day and will learn how to live, work, eat, and sleep with a pack of dogs. Your pup will gain the skills necessary to cope at dog parks, stay calm when guests arrive, and respect rules set by their human leaders. Dog Walking/Pet Sitting A new service only available in the suburbs. A reliable and trusted member of my team will be permanently scheduled to your route. This is their full time job and only cancel for emergencies. Walks can be up to 80 minutes. No less than 20. Short term/long term pet sitting.
