Edmond Fernandez helped me with the restoration of my 1865 home in Lincoln Park. Over a period of six months or so, he totally reconstructed my large dining room and living room. Both had been misused and abused by the people who owned the house prior to its purchase by my husband's family in 1959. In the dining room, he reconstructed walls and ceiling and removed an extraneous closet that had been bumped into the room. He took considerable time and painstaking effort to repair the damaged plaster crown molding, replacing what was missing or unrepairable with perfectly matched foam. He also hung the wallpaper in this room, straightened the large arch between living room and dining room and installed salvaged curved corner molding in the archway. Edmond also restored and redecorated a small study downstairs, installing much-needed closet and storage space, and did the same for my master bedroom. A year before all of this, he restored the walls, floor and ceiling in my kitchen, installing insulation where it had never been. Edmond has also been very helpful in finding plumbers, electricians and other workmen as needed. Edmond was always on time and spent long hours on these projects...on one occasion I got up at 5 a.m. and found him downstairs still painting! All of his work is very high quality. He is also as neat as it is possible to be, keeping disruption and mess to a minimum. His attention to detail is superb...he is a true craftsman and I can't recommend him highly enough!

Edmond took on painting our entire new condo (bedroom, bathroom, hallway, living room, dining room, kitchen, doors) including a bunch of other details that we added on at the last minute like replacing some baseboard, touching up trim, repairing some wall damage, cleaning the sprinkler pipes, and pulling out an old built-in media cabinet we didn't want. He was very flexible with the added work we wanted completed and very helpful in choosing paint colors/finishes with us. We were very completely satisfied with both his service and the finished product - we absolutely love our new condo. All of the lines are so clean and the colors and coverage look perfect, and since we have high lofted ceilings with curved details at the top, this was not a quick task to complete, but Edmond did it all in stride. He started on a Saturday with the prepping and was finished by Thursday afternoon which was very reasonable considering the volume of work. I was very grateful that everything went according to plan and that it turned out so beautifully. I give it an A+! We would definitely recommend Edmond to friends and family. He can really do it all!

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Looking at the space that needs the work at the same time gathering information from the client to find out what they are trying to do or trying to achieve a certain feeling form the space. For colors do have a effect on spaces .So I am able to bring my former education to aid with the project. When all the info is gathered I would formulate a price. If the cost is agreed upon then a partial deposit is needed along with the contract signed. After all this then we can schedule a starting date.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    A Bachelors of Fine arts.
