Jon was awesome to work with! As a woman in my mid-60's, I was in dire need of guidance for strengthening my core and re-building muscle. Jon thoughtfully came up with a plan that included daily reminders for me to keep moving--very important as I work at a sedentary job. Jon will come to your home, but my preference was to visit him at his studio gym where all the equipment is available to work with. Also, you'd be hard pressed to find someone else with Jon's work ethic, professionalism, and approachable demeanor. It has been a great experience for me, as I work toward achieving my fitness goals. I would highly recommend Jon as a personal trainer.

Jon's knowledge of personal training goes beyond the actual work outs but the mechanics and physiology of the body. His workouts were tailored to my ability, skill level, and medical history. He pushes you without being pushy. Highly recommend!

Before hiring Jon to be my personal trainer, I was interviewing with several others to gauge how I felt. Compared to other trainers I spoke to, I felt that Jon was more supportive, gentle, and quick to provide helpful feedback. During our first phone call, Jon asked me what my prior exercise regimen had been and immediately offered a helpful tip even before I booked an appointment with him. My first training session with Jon also showed me his compassion, professionalism, and quick responsiveness. It was my first time in a long while that I exercised and experienced my first exercise-induced asthma attack. Jon calmly helped me through the experience in a way that did not worsen my symptoms. His exercise regimen for me was tailored to my needs and goals, and also challenged me to push myself a little more without me becoming discouraged. He also provided helpful nutrition and diet information as well as progress with table work. Overall, I highly recommend Jon as a personal trainer and I made overall progress with my health, not just weight loss, with him.

Love working with Jon. He has a fantastic personality for working with people that seems to naturally motivate. His dedication to his clients is clear from the first session. As someone who never really cared for exercise, I am happy to say I do not dread our weekly workouts and even find them enjoyable. Jon walks the line between progress and boundaries like a true pro - never wanting to push anyone past their own limits. I will definitely be continuing for the foreseeable future!

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    First, I like to clearly establish what their goals are so we can put down a plan of action. For our first session, I spend at least half of their workout doing a physical assessment which allows me to determine the structure of their workouts in the weeks to come. Based on my analysis, I explain to the client clearly what their workouts will look like and why they will allow them to achieve their goals.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    I am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, Yoga Alliance Accredited Teacher, and an Adaptive Recovery Consultant.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

    There is no greater joy in my line of work than to witness a total transformation of a client. In most cases, my client’s initial goals are predominately physically, such as losing weight or building muscle, but once they completed their physical transformation, many come to find they are mentally in a place that they never thought was possible. Aside from their increased confidence having achieved their physical goals, they are happier, more relaxed, sleeping better, and overall, fulfilled. My methodology as an Active Recovery Consultant allows my clients to experience the full list of benefits, both mental and physical, achieved through the well-balanced approach to health and fitness.
