FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Adults (Ages 17 and up): I charge 30 dollars per student per 30 minute lesson. 40 dollars per student per 60 minute lesson. 3 or more students in a class, the price drops to 20 for 30 minutes and 30 for 60 minutes. I will not teach more than 8 adults at a time. Infants: I will take children as young as 4 weeks old. The earlier they are in the water, the easier it will for them to learn. From ages 4 weeks to 2 years old I do parent-child classes. The classes will be 30 minutes each and are 20 dollars per child per lesson. 2-4 Years old: To ensure full learning during the lesson I teach for 15 minutes per lesson and charge 10 per lesson and will only teach one child at a time. 5-10 Years old: I charge 20 per student per lesson and will not teach more than 4 kids at a time (all lessons are 30 minutes long but I will accept double lessons though it is not recommended). 11-16 years old: I charge 30 per student per lesson and will not teach more than 6 kids at a time (All classes are 45 minutes and I will not do double lessons). These prices are not set in stone but will only vary in special cases, which can include but not limited to: special needs students and master swim classes.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start with making sure they are comfortable in the water and find out what they are comfortable with doing and what they need to work on. At this point also find out if they are looking just to learn the skill or master it. Then I teach or review the basics of water safety (back floating, how to deal with waves or dangerous situations). After that is covered I run stamina drills until they can kick, on a kick board, at least 15 meters and then do the same using a bouy for arm strength. Following that I begin with the basics of freestyle and sidestroke. Once that has been mastered, I move on to backstroke and breaststroke. Lastly, if they have the desire, I will teach butterfly and, if the pool permits, basic diving.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been trained in first aid and life guarding and to teach by Red Cross and I am also certified to teach a more technical specific swimming program. In addition, I have experience teaching swimming to special needs students.
