  I had a great experience working with Jesse and will continue to work with him in the future. Being a first time puppy owner he was exactly what my family needed. He taught us(including my 14, 11, 7 year old children) all of the basics we needed and as a result we are now a well adjusted family with a puppy. I called him my "puppy shrink" by the end and will have him on speed dial as a result. He was excellent with our puppy, with my kids, always timely and responsive.

  Jesse was a heaven sent! Our dog was reactive towards both dogs and people on occasion and we already went through obedience training with another trainer which only scratched the surface. When I started looking for trainers who handle aggression, we found Jesse. After evaluating our dog, jesse was immediately able to get down to the root of the problem - which was our dog's energy levels. The goal with training was to keep his energy low and his mindset calm and passive. Jesse explained that a dog whose energy is all over the place tends to be impulsive and reactive, which our dog was, and that a calm dog is a passive and thinking dog. He hit the nail on the head. Our dog is doing so much better and we have the tools we need for life. Highly recommend. jesse really understands dogs and I see why his company is called Canine Perspective!

  We rescued our pit bull, Joni, at around 5 months. She was a lovable snuggle bug half of the time, and the other half of the time she was hyper, anxious energy. Around 10-12 months, we noticed she was exhibiting some resource guarding behavior and enrolled her in your typical obedience training course recommended by the doggie day care we took her to at the time (positive reinforcement with treats, etc.) We worked on her behaviors using this method for a while, without seeing much improvement. Eventually, she was kicked out of her doggie day care because of her growing aggression toward other dogs. Shortly after this, she bit a friend and then a family member, and we finally realized we needed to do some serious training with her - something that would stick. We found Jess's information and contacted him immediately. After our free consultation with Jess, we knew right away that he knew what he was doing and would work hard to make sure we saw results with Joni. It only took the first session with Jess to see her behavior improve - it was almost a complete 180. Not only have her aggressive tendencies ceased, but she now walks leash-less and has 100% recall. Her hyperactivity and anxiety have subsided, and she is now such a happy and confident dog. We cannot recommend Jess's training services highly enough. He has taken the every day stress out of our relationship with Joni. We now feel 100% confident in her ability to listen and behave in any situation. Thank you, Jess!!!

• What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
  Obedience is pretty straight forward because I know roughly how long it takes for a dog to learn a command reliably and that is placed at a fixed price. Behavior, however, is different because I do not know for sure how long it'll take to address it, but I have an idea. During the consultation I assess the dog's behavior, the severity and the family and give a price for an estimated amount of time to fix it. If I guess 8 classes, but it looks like it'll take longer, than they do not pay more, it is included in the price because I charge for result not time.
• How did you get started doing this type of work?
  I adopted a female Chow mix that was terribly people shy and it set me down the path to help her overcome her fear of people. Early on I saw how teaching her Obedience wouldn't fix that so I began to volunteer at the Humane Society I adopted her from and realized I had a knack for reading dogs and went from there.
• What types of customers have you worked with?
  I usually get aggression cases or Obedience cases that have been worked with with other trainer's whose methods didn't work.
