FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am all about building ongoing working relationships. If my quote doesn't work for you, I'm always willing to negotiate.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with a new client, I make a point to get to know you -- what drives you? What inspires you? Ultimately, what do you want to come from our collaboration? I'll want to video chat to put a face to the name and get a feel for how we can best communicate together.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor's degree in Music & Recording Arts, a customized version of the music major which I completed at Hope College, graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors. As part of that program, I took four semesters each of music theory and aural skills, 3 semesters of voice lessons, 2 semesters of electrical engineering, and at least 8 total semesters of recording-focused coursework. Outside of class, I worked as a Recording Assistant, running the recordings of most of the live concerts the music department put on during my time there. I also had the opportunity to engineer my own sessions with a variety of jazz and folk ensembles within the music department. Beyond formal education, I have had the opportunity to work with experienced recording engineers in both Grand Rapids and Chicago, assisting on sessions with setup, running the console, and mixing. Through these partnerships, I have gotten to work with a variety of clients and familiarize myself with different gear.
