Introduction: Hi, my name is Jeewon! I am a current medical student at Loyola Stritch School of Medicine completing a research fellowship year. I have a substantial educational background spanning a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience and Psychology from Vanderbilt University, as well as a Master's in Medical Sciences from Loyola University Chicago. As you can see, I have been in school for a VERY long time (a forever student, as people always joke). However, it is my extensive tutoring experience that truly sets me apart.
For nearly a decade, from 2012 to 2021, I have dedicated myself to private tutoring, specializing in math, science, and reading/writing to students from elementary through high school levels. My expertise in PSAT and SAT preparation is evidenced by my scores, with a 790 in Math, 750 in Writing, and 750 in Critical Reading on the SAT.
My extensive tutoring experience has honed my ability to tailor lessons to individual learning styles and adapt my teaching methods to suit each student's needs. I've taught a wide variety of topics, from high school debate coach during undergrad, all the way to teaching cello to young, budding musicians.
I love teaching. It's both an art and a service, and a large part of why I entered the medical field. My favorite success story is when I worked with a 7th grader, who was brought to me (begrudgingly) by her mom, who was concerned that she was going to stay a straight B/C student for the rest of her academic career. I worked with this student consistently for 2 years, 3 times a week. By the time she started high school, she was on the Honor roll, and honestly, didn't need tutoring from me anymore. I taught her to be confident in her abilities, and gave her the proper tools to organize and optimize her study habits so that she can become a strong learner for life. This story is the crux of why I love to teach. I'm excited to work with you soon.
