I am a makeup artist who was looking for someone to help me out with my website. After speaking with one of the project managers, I knew that I had found the perfect match! All of my needs and wants were carefully taken into consideration. They were able to revamp my boring and not very functional website, into a site that is fun and easy for prospective clients to use! The industry that I work in is pretty competitive but knowing that I have Mercova Media at my side whenever I might need them, I feel very confident that the amount of new clients that my site is attracting will continue to increase.

We built our site from scratch, and had a very unique and specific vision for our site. My Web Design won the bid because they did the research before we initially met, they understood what we wanted, and confirmed that they had the software and capability to create our site. They were very responsive, and also very patient with our responses when there were delays on our end. We found that emails and calls worked well for the day-to-day, but got the most value out of face-to-face meetings due to the visual interaction and impromptu discussions to wrap up the bigger more pertinent discussion items. We are very pleased with the finished product, and would recommend My Web Design to all who show an interest or need for their services.

I have worked with Jason on strategic sales and marketing initiatives within the Asset Management business. His unparrleled creativity and ability to integrate a custom digital marketing and technology plan was paramount in my decision to move forward with Kitely. My time to market was significantly shorter vs. competitive solutions and we also achieved a 20% budget improvement relative to competing bids.

Cecilia and her staff have done many different projects for us. The one that really sticks out for me is they took the forefront in our rebranding and with their guidance we are much happier with our logo, website etc.

Dave was the best choice from about 12 companies we looked at. I was in software back in the day and it seemed Dave had a full plate as things weren't moving the way we expected. I've been there. We wound up canceling the project as we had a local source but he was really helpful and very honest regarding any credits we had. I would recommend him without hesitation.

Ryan and the team at Plaidypus have been incredible to work with. I've now worked on two custom software applications with them to help my clients improve their business. I've also worked with other companies in the past and what sets Plaidypus apart is their process from the first concept to full implementation of the software through client on-boarding. I will continue to reach out to them for all of my custom software needs

My experience with Moo Advisory Services (Moo), is that you get "three consultants in one." I have found that Moo takes this perspective in their approach to finding solutions through combined experience in financial accounting, business process and technology solutions. They are extremely professional and very pleasant to work with. I would highly recommend Moo Advisory Services, Inc. for any project.

It was a pleasure working with Mayt at MayDay Management. She was my liaison for a website redesign project for my company. It was so great to have her on board to manage this project; completely took the stress of me. She was on top of things without me having to ask.

I give Illinois Website Developers and their team a 5 star rating and thumbs up for a terrific job they did on my web project. Other companies I went to didn't grasp my concept and were unable to do what I thought was a fairly straight forward script code writing part of the development. I realize that developers have different programming languages that they write code in, and I was willing to allow the developers to make that choice on their own. Even at that level, other firms were unable to grasp the concept and make the online software do what is was conceived to do. However, when I went with Kevin Shick at Illinois Website Developers, he understood my company goals along with the concept. I knew he understood because he produced a project summary document that nailed it. Him and his team that were assigned to my project asked the right questions, and posted messages that were all in sync with the concept that I have been trying to explain to other development firms for over a year. Now I am using this product as a main part of my business model. It has increased productivity with the efficient tasks that it performs. I was also able to easily train my staff on the use of this new software platform, and it has become a daily part of our business operations. I cant say enough about how pleased I am with the results that Illinois Website Developers has produced for me.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do I find a good app developer?

A good app developer can help you if your company wants to build a new mobile app for customers but you don’t have an IT or development team on staff. First, decide whether you want an app made for the iPhone or Android phones or both, then start your search by finding an app developer with expertise in your chosen platform. Ask for samples of their work, such as code samples, that can be tested on open source repository sites like GitLab and GitHub. You can also interview firms that specialize in mobile app development for small companies or startups; they should be able to offer examples of different types of apps they’ve built, and are likely to have expertise in a range of technologies and platforms. Before you sign a contract, make sure to ask prospective app developers these questions:

    • What other apps have you developed? Make sure the apps in their portfolio reflect the type of work you want to have done for your company. It’s especially helpful if they understand your industry.
    • What technology and development services do you offer? Ideally, an app developer will conduct a business analysis, develop the app, perform quality testing and make sure the launch is successful.

Will you maintain the app after it’s launched? Releasing an app is only the beginning. You’ll need someone to maintain it too, releasing updates and fixing bugs.

    Who builds apps?

Apps are usually built by software developers who specialize in mobile software. They may be experts in just one mobile software development language or know several, and may have expertise in front-end or back-end web development. No matter what kind of phone or tablet you carry, there are hundreds of apps for it — and new ones seem to be added to the app stores every day. Before you hire an app developer, it’s important to have specific goals for your app and a clear idea of its purpose. When your company is ready to build an app, you can hire a freelance app developer or work with an app development company that can also support the app after it’s launched. It’s important to know whether you’ll need the developer to provide ongoing maintenance and support or if your internal IT team can maintain it after its launch.

How much does it cost to hire an app developer?

Software development is a serious investment for any company, costing thousands of dollars for even basic apps. It’s tough to estimate costs because there are so many variables to each project: user requirements, feature set, complexity, size, etc. Mobile apps can cost from $20,000 to more than $100,000, depending on what you need the app to do. The average national cost of an app developer is $237.50 per hour, but prices vary widely depending on location, type of app, features, and much, much more.

To get a sense of what hiring an app developer might cost, decide first what kind of software you need. In general, app developers charge hourly fees based on the language they’ll use to code the software. Freelancers cost less than large software development firms, typically charging an average of:

    • Basic C development: $75-$150 per hour.
    • Front-end web development: $50-$75 per hour.
    • Back-end web development: $75-$150 per hour.
    • API development: $75-$150 per hour.
    • Desktop app development: $30-$100 per hour.
    • Mobile app development: $30-$150 per hour.

Larger software vendors charge much more, often as much as $300 to $400 per hour.
