FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $200 per hour, with a 2 hour minimum, to prepare returns and respond to IRS notices. This includes electronic filing and client copies of completed returns. **However, I don't charge for the time answering your questions via email for work you’ve already paid for. I’m diligent about replying promptly, even during tax season.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It depends on the client. We can talk a bit on the phone, but I've found that once we work together, email is more effective. I can send clients a checklist of items to send, but I never ask clients to fill out forms, as is a common practice. I'd like to have all the current year documents, as well as copies of the prior two year's returns. Consistency is important, mistakes can happen when income and deductions don't flow properly.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I majored in French, not Accounting. I apprenticed to a tax lawyer, studied at HR Block, and hold the AFSP designation from the IRS. My husband/partner formerly worked as a Trust Officer at JP Morgan. He brings a deeper knowledge of trusts and banking to our practice.
