FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I include the cost of equipment and travel in my flat rates to make it easier, unless I have to rent something specialized. Filming rates: less than 4 hours = $600 4-8 hours = $1000 Overtime = $200 per hour of overtime Editing rates: Promos + Ads + Mini-docs Short form (approx. 2 minute or less) = $800 Medium form (approx. 2.5-5 minutes) = $1400 Ceremonies + Panels + Events Short form (approx. 30 minutes or less) = $800 Medium form (30 - 60 min) = $1200 Long form (60 min to 90 min) = $2000 Since I love to work with non-profits, I discount my commercial/retail prices to match their needs.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I usually start with a video or phone call to ask questions and get a sense of what they're looking for. I also want to establish mutual trust between us so my client knows they're in good hands. I then ask for references or examples of what they're looking to have done. From there, I provide them a quote and negotiate different options based on their budget.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Media and Animation. I've since worked in Chicago as a freelance videographer/editor since 2012. I currently work for a corporation with a video production team creating commercials and ads, like the regional Super Bowl ad.
