Anthony Aguilera is a 30-year Chicago veteran of media mastery. Starting from his early years as a Chicago director editor, Mr. Aguilera has been breaking new boundaries since 1979.
An early pioneer in music video work, his work has won awards, as well as an editor of pre-MTV works, like "Video Child", which has won multiple awards (Athens Ohio Film fest), Chicago (both Al Piemonte (car dealer)), and the now legendary "Video King" commercials, "Building the Perfect Beast", a music video consisting of Don Henley's soundtrack and NASA, and a public domain footage where he attacked President Reagan's "Star Wars" defense system (as seen on Image Union) with a technique known as speed cutting (1 image every 1/2 second (he defied critics)), a common technique.
In early special effects, he was the first to show us what the inside of a rolling video cube looked like long before the ease of digital effects.
A proponent of "Hi-8 Video" in a time of VHS, he predicted the eventual on-set digital media, replacing the two separate realms of film and video -- all these pre-internet!
His groundbreaking projects have always been considered ahead of the curve. Even with his vast expertise in traditional film, he also was part of the first wave of HDDV as a theatre-quality experience (suspended animation rel. 2000 Director John Hancock).
He had also worked on the original "interactive arcade games" from Williams Electronics in 1984.
As a writer, he has been a published poet (Stray Bullets (Tia Chucha Press)) and his poem "Love Song". The poetic play "Obras" brought together the unknown poets (Luis Rodriquez) on the stage as actors. He has performed as a poet in venues, such as Peacefest Chicago and Hemingway-fest (Oak Park). He's even at the booksellers' row!
He was part of the first wave of western poets in Eastern Germany (Urban Metaphors), which toured East Berlin and Erfert, Germany in 1991.
As a poet/writer, his play, "Urban Metaphors", was even included in Rhino Fest. He has produced children's shows, as well as written commercial works.
