Wow! I couldn't have asked for a better chef. Chez Mikey and his sous chef Diana were on time, dressed professionally, prepared delicious food, cleaned up, and gave us a marvelous experience. He worked with our budget and was very friendly. The dishes were plated very nicely. Not only was the food excellent but very appealing to the eye. When planning a party it's very difficult to find the perfect combination of professionalism and culinary expertise. I found both in hiring Chez Mikey. My guests and I were so impressed with Chef Mike's preparation of our appetizers and main entré. We began our dinner with a one bite amuse bouchée, marinated carrots and cucumber caviar tray. Beautiful and very delicious. For the entré we had the "Hunters' Trophy" (lamb chop on top of polenta and a slowly cooked chicken thigh). This combination was presented artfully; and more importantly this dish was so tasty that even the guests with whom lamb chops are not thier favorite protein, found the lamb chop tender and cooked to perfection and loved it. Chef Mike ended the meal with a special chocolate ganache celebration cake which left all my guests happily ending on a sweet note. When I have another event, I'm speed dialing Chez Mikey because he will soon be booked up. Wedding and Event Catering
Mike did an outstanding job catering last weekend’s bridal shower on very short notice! Guests devoured the appetizers with speed and alacrity. Consider this one standout example amongst many. There was no outdoor grill available, so Mike prepared Thai marinated chicken satay on a griddle. The chicken was melt-in-your-mouth tender (so often at restaurants the chicken is dry/chewy from overcooking) and the creamy peanut sauce was a perfect blend of smoky and sweet with a spicy kick. To take care of guests with nut allergies, he also prepared a separate batch of satay chicken using teriyaki. The light, sweet and salty teriyaki glaze on the chicken had a distinctive umami flavor, found only when the chef strikes the delicate balance between key ingredients. - What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?We will use your per person or total budget to build a custom menu.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?We like to discuss the party, times, budget, and expectations of the food. Once initial contact is made we start building menus. We build everything custom for each party and really try to put are egos aside. Once the menu is agreed upon we make an itemized invoice that shows all menu items clearly and quantities of the items. We aim to be transparent and straightforward.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?School of Hard knocks for cooking. Bachelor's degree from Ohio University in geological Science.
