I researched several martial arts dojos, particularly from a childrens perspective since two of my kids (8 and 5 years old) wanted to learn self-defense techniques. Danny is an exceptional trainer, he not only focuses on the physical development of his clients but also their nutritional and emotional needs. Danny is very professional, even while keeping things fun and engaging. I appreciate his constant communication via email and text; checking on how Iâm doing, offering support and confirming appointments when changes were made. I also appreciated his scheduling flexibility and respecting my scheduling requirements. Danny assessed my training needs and designed a program that helped with my weight loss goals as well as address some of my limitations because of health issues. He changed our program so that it was never dull, was continuously challenging and kept me moving towards my personal goals. Often when I thought I couldnât do an exercise or movement, Dannyâs encouragement helped me to push through and succeed. In addition to physical assessments, we did weekly weigh-ins so that I could see my weight loss progression. Which is highly motivating for me. Our 5 year old son has been taking Jiu Jitsu at Thresold Martial Arts for 5 months and is loving it! We first heard about Threshold when we saw a demonstration they did at Park Ridge Libray last summer. Now I am now reviewing my own positive experience. My husband is a police officer and urged me to sign up for a women's self defense class being offered at Threshold. I was hesitant because I work and have two young kids, but I thought it would be a good experience and it has far surpassed my expectations. The instructor is a Jiu Jitsu black belt and the owner of the gym who really cares about teaching and keeping people safe. I could go on and on, but bottom line is this is a really family friendly place - so much more than we expected. Even with my limited free time, I am making it a priority to continue my training. My daughter and I took a self defense class with Dylan at Players U. It was an awesome experience and I tell everyone about it. He was a great teacher and very professional. Patient and thorough, all Mom and girls should take this class. Boys being bullied should too! Just so they have an option to defend themselves. He teaches self confidence and Core strength thats beneficial to other sports and dance. We look forward to coming back this fall.

I was a Marine Corps martial arts instructor for 4 years and have 6 years of BJJ training and 3 years of Tae Kwon Do training. I use plastic training knives and handguns to teach disarms and manipulation. I guarantee a clean and friendly experience each session. I am also trained in first aid and trauma in case of emergencies. I offer combat-style fitness sessions as well.
It is extremely rare to find a Black Belt who is willing to work with others for personalized one on one training as I do. I have the luxury of working with so many other Black Belt instructors that I may spend more time one on one with students rather than only being able to see people in a class setting alone. I believe class settings are wonderful at helping you learn much material. However I realize that personal training sessions are the best way for others to learn self defense, or work out more effectively given many different factors in our lives.
