Personal Training

Tamika T. says, "Training with Shannon has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for my fitness journey. From day one, she took the time to understand my goals, strengths, and challenges, and created a program that pushed me beyond what I thought I was capable of — while still keeping things safe and sustainable. Her energy is unmatched! Every session is motivating, challenging, and filled with positive encouragement. Shannon doesn’t just tell you what to do; she teaches you why you’re doing it, which has helped me stay consistent both in and out of the gym. She genuinely cares about her clients’ success, celebrates every win (big or small), and holds you accountable in the best way possible. Thanks to her guidance, I’m stronger, more confident, and more disciplined — not just in fitness, but in life. If you’re looking for a trainer who’s passionate, knowledgeable, and truly invested in helping you reach your goals, Shannon is the one. No Defeat is more than just a name — it’s the mindset she helps you build."See more

John I. says, "Harold is an amazing personal trainer. He will keep you engaged during your workouts and goes the extra step to keep your motivation up, when he isn't training you. Harold also gives great nutritional advice - his recommendations and creativity with meals made my whole 28 week program easy... And I mean LITERALLY easy. I never felt like I was too restricted with my meals! Overall, a personal trainer is supposed to teach you how to train and guide you along the way as you progress... But if you want a trainer that can turn your regular average Joe into an athlete, Harold is the man for the job. Book him. You won't regret it. Also, check out my before and after pictures on his Thumbtack profile!"See more

Personal Training

Daniel K. says, "Tyler is an amazing, one-of-a-kind coach. I’ve been working out with him multiple times per week for over a year now. He is extremely knowledgeable in fitness and personal training, and tailors a program to your goals and any past injuries. He has helped me tremendously with strength and conditioning - I’ve lost and kept off over 15 pounds over the last year, put on lean muscle mass and increased my endurance considerably. Tyler is the type of guy who elevates those around him and helps you become a better version of yourself. I’ve learned as much in between sets from him as I have during the workout - he brings such a unique take on mental health, physical well being and personal development. I can’t recommend him strongly enough - 10/10 would sign up without any reservation, you won’t be disappointed."See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do you need for kickboxing?

What you need to bring to kickboxing depends on where you are working out and what your goals are. For a gym or fitness club’s cardio-based group kickboxing class that does not use punching bags, you generally need only appropriate workout gear and enough water. For kickboxers who are training in a martial arts studio, working one-on-one with a trainer toward a specific goal or sparring with competitors, you will need your own boxing gloves (12- to 16-ounce gloves provide more protection for beginners) and hand wraps (to protect and support your hands under the gloves, as well as keep them dry). If your lessons are in a martial arts studio, you may not be permitted to wear shoes, so bring clean socks if you don’t like to go barefoot. If your training includes sparring, you may be required to wear a mouthguard and/or protective headgear. Whether you’re in a group fitness class or hardcore training session, bring a sweat towel for your comfort and the comfort of people around you.

What should you wear to kickboxing?

What you wear to kickboxing can vary based on the setting. For kickboxing group fitness classes that are part of a gym’s cardio class schedule, standard fitness attire is appropriate. Athletic sneakers, pants or shorts that you can comfortably kick in without getting tangled or flashing anyone, and a top that allows for easy movement when punching and jabbing are all good choices. You won’t need protective gear or gloves, as most cardio-based kickboxing classes do not use punching bags.

Kickboxing training that takes place at a martial arts studio typically requires protective gear. You may need boxing gloves (beginners may want 12-ounce or heavier gloves for more cushioning) and hand wraps that protect and support your hands under the gloves while you punch the bag. If your kickboxing training includes sparring with opponents, you’ll need a mouthguard and any protective head and body gear your studio requires. Always be sure to bring plenty of water, too.
