I started working with Matt several months ago and I've grown tremendously in my ability to improvise and play bar chords. This, in addition to improving my fingerstyle was my goal. Matt is extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of music, but he flexes to the areas you want to focus on....you're the customer in his mind. I decided to focus on the basics vs moving too far into fingerstyle, and Matt was able to give me some simple theory that helped me build a foundation. This was critical for me, as I definitely wanted to understand, not just follow blindly.
My only recommendation for Matt, is that he keep some basic notes on his students, so he knows what their homework was and where they left off.
He's a very generous teacher, not focused on the clock, and I would strongly recommend him to anyone looking to grow during their musical journey. He will remain my teacher and jam partner in the future.

Matt is a patient teacher and got me playing things that sound cool right away, which keeps me motivated to continue while I'm still a beginner.

Matt is a great teacher. Very focused, and is keeping me on track! He teaches a wide variety of music, but it seems to me that we share a love of the same type of classic rock, and that comes through in his teaching.

I hadn't picked up a guitar for a few decades and hired Matt to get me going again after purchasing a new Taylor acoustic. Matt has helped me improve my poor picking techniques in a few weeks (with practice!), and is helping me build a song "set" that I want to use with friends and family when we get together. He's a great teacher with lots of enthusiasm! I'm amazed at how far I've come in a short time with Matt's help. Highly recommended!

Matt is an excellent instructor, his knowledge includes many musical genres. As a beginning bass guitar adult student without any musical training after only a few lessons, I can honestly say that I see growth in my abilities. I highly recommend Matt!
