Domingo was incredibly responsive to my job request and adapted it to our immediate needs. The quote to remove 2 trees, trim 5 others, and regrade the house perimeter was reasonable and follow-through was prompt and thorough. The staff were friendly and personable; Domingo's brother personally oversaw all the work and cleaned up the yard beyond anything we could imagine. We look forward to having them return in the spring to add some fresh plants and possibly some stone work.

Mike has done a wonderful job putting together 3 pieces of IKEA furniture in our new apartment, one of which had 8 drawers and a LOT of pieces. He even came back a second time, after we initially didn't allocate enough time for the job, and has offered to come back to help with some electrical in the new place. Highly recommend working with Mike!

We did a full first floor remodel - laminate flooring, new paint, crown molding, granite counters, and some other odds and ends. Hit a few snags along the way (which is to be expected) but we always worked together for a solution. We've recently sold the home and buyers have been very impressed. Would use Johnny again.

I was very happy about my experience with Gonzalez Landscaping. They are hard working people with excellent work ethics. They showed up on my property early in the morning, just as they promised they would. They started their job with good planning. Things went nice and smooth. They cut down four trees, chopped up the wood in firewood size, laid them neatly by the fence, hauled branches away, and even cleaned up the yard for me. Everything was finished in 2 or 3 hours. No damage, no mess. Four people coordinated very well, because they know what they are doing. I highly recommend Gonzalez and will use them again.

Worked closely with us. Kept us updated of a minor delay that was caused by the paver brick supplier not Lawn Ranger. I would work with them again. A neighbor saw there work and is talking with them about a project.

Arrived promptly at 7 a.m. and began the trim at 8 a.m. During the hour, he evaluated the job which included getting a limb between 4 wires. He advised his young worker while he was on the roof and provided good education for the young man. They were all very polite. I gave 4 stars because the area where the limb connected to the trunk is made with 2 cuts that don't have a flat surface. I would have given 4 1/2 stars if I could. I would definitely use them again. The quote was below the final price but he didn't know about the wires. I thought it was a good job since the weather was not the best and the limb went up over the house. So, 4 1\2 stars would be ideal. If you need a tree trimmer, hire him.

Called in for an estimate to pour a new concrete slab and build a new cedar wood and rod iron fence with a motor . Their team was able to come out to take a look, get me a quote and contract , and pull permits with the village all within 2 days . Super speedy service ! Fence was completed 4 days after and it looks amazing !

Juan and his team were fantastic! They were punctual, efficient, and got the job done within the time frame they gave me! They even cleaned up after themselves everyday. They changed my entire lower level flooring for me (originally I only wanted the kitchen and foyer but later changed my mind and they were very accommodating). They changed vinyl flooring from the kitchen, foyer, powder room, and laundry room and carpet from living and dining room. I had them put tile in the kitchen and it was fantastic!!! The detail on the way they did it was amazing! I had them put wood the rest of the areas! There were some minor things we wanted fixed And it was taken care of immediately. I will definitely recommend Juan and his team! Looking forward to working with them again on another project.

Jorge has so many talents, I ended up using him for most of a major house rehab. This was the sixth house I've rehabbed and it was great to have one contractor knowledgeable about so many things so I didn't have to wait on each specialty. Jorge drywalled, laid a wood laminate floor, put up baseboard, put in 2 toilets, ran plumbing and put in a new dishwasher, put up baseboard, ran a water line to the refrigerator, put in a new kitchen sink and countertop, leveled a wobbly ceiling fan, hung closet doors, as well as other things. He was there when he said he would be, worked until the job was done, and was pleasant to work with. I highly recommend him and will use him again.

I called Mr. Gould for an idea of what to do with my outdated landscaping. He was very familiar with my area and was able to offer up many suggestions and ideas on the latest trends in landscape and brick work. We were able to decide rather quickly and had crews at our house working with in a couple of weeks. We added lighting, removed an old wood deck and added a paver patio with gas fire pit. Mr. Gould was responsible for hiring the crews and managing them - no headaches for me!

I had called Green Scene to my property earlier this month to assess a pine tree that had been in a downward spiral for the last season or two. One of their Arborists, James, was out to assess the tree and gave a few options which included a treatment plan, or full removal of the tree. We decided to have the tree taken down and were added to their schedule for the following week. The crew showed up to complete the work and they were great. What a friendly, knowledgable and hardworking group of young men! The removal of the tree was quick and precise and the cleanup was even better. They even removed the remaining wood chips where the stump was, and now all I have to do is throw down some seed this spring, and it will look like there was never a tree there. I highly recommend these guys!

Julio and Jose these guys have the expertise and really know what they are doing plus they have all the equipment necessary to do the work. I had a cottonwood tree removed by this company, they were excellent. They showed up on time as agreed upon and they went beyond the work scope. Removed all wood chips and logs from the property, they left the area cleaned when the work was finished. I RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY VERY HIGHLY, on a scale of 1-5 I give them a 5! https://www.facebook.com/Ace-Tree-Experts-239644173262105/

Adamantium did a great job and was very impressed to their willingness to 'please' the customer. I am a commercial Project Manager and deal with union contractors on a daily basis; Chris and his team are top notch and have that 'old school' approach of willing to go the extra mile. Chris and his crew performed the concrete removal, dirt grading and wood beam removal project we had been needing done for some time. Their price was fair and they did it timely. Thanks Adamantium!

We hired Becky Doughty to cut our corner lot lawn and they did a great job! They arrived on time, cut the grass to our satisfaction and blew all excess on the sidewalk. Also, used the trimmer to edge the areas which also looked very nice. We really appreciate their service and the fact they came out on a Saturday!

Work Completed Date: May 28, 2014 Hire Again: Yes Approximate Cost: $3,800.00 Description Of Work: The latest large project was a total bathroom remodel, including gutting the old one and replacing everything down to the floor and pipes. Bozek has also handled our landscaping and snow removal for about 5 years. We have worked with them for over 15 years in multiple homes and they have built a custom playhouse and treehouse, re-landscaped our yard, rebuilt and finished several decks, remodeled a kitchen, and was the general contractor for a home that needs lots of work before moving in, including replacing wood floors, rewiring the house and installing multiple ceiling lights and fans, painting, etc. etc... Comments: We have always been very pleased with their responsiveness and professionalism - whenever we have called with an emergency they are very prompt in getting back to us. Their prices are very fair and everyone that has done the work has been very polite and trustworthy, and they clean up after themselves which is very much appreciated. Their workmanship is solid and stands up to the test of time. We also appreciate their creative ideas in trying to solve a problem or come up with a unique solution. They have always gone the extra mile to be sure we are satisfied.

Very fair price! Great work! Great attitude and always ready to answer our questions! We are smiling ear to ear! Dan helped us paint the whole house, demo one wall, added drywall patch to demolished wall. He placed flooring in our family room, reinforced a weak french door, laid tiles in two bathrooms and added wainscoting to our dining room! Everything looks great, but one cool part is he color matched a previously repaired 4×5 section of our hard wood floor practically EXACT same color! He also suggested color matching 4 transitions that were missing or wrong color. His team did it all in 6 days! Awesome for a 2300 sq. Ft house! Dan paid attention to small details we didn't even think about. We are already planning on our next project for D& M construction to help us with!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a landscape contractor do?

Landscape contractors work from outdoor architectural or design plans to build and install hardscaping or softscaping for the client, much as a general contractor uses architectural designs to build a house. Landscape contractors are experts in soil drainage, grading, hardscaping (installing concrete paths and retaining wall, building ponds, etc.), and planting. They have heavy equipment such as excavators and tractors to prepare the land as needed.

Some landscape contractors are also landscape architects or landscape designers. The titles can be compared with those in home construction: A building or landscape architect must earn a specialized architecture degree and pass an exam to have a license. A designer — whether an interior designer or a landscape designer — does not usually require a license to work. Landscape contractors are not required by law to work from plans designed by a landscape architect, so you may work directly with the landscape contractor to specify the work you’d like done. The national average cost for large-scale landscaping projects is $10,160. Pricing can vary greatly depending on the project scope, materials and design.

How do you find a good landscape architect?

Hiring a landscape architect is an investment in your home. Landscaping can reduce water bills, improve your home resale value, add to your daily living experience and significantly boost curb appeal. A landscape architect will draw the designs for your new landscape; you’ll want to hire a landscape contractor to carry out the plans. Many companies provide design-build landscaping services, with a company architect creating plans for your vision and the landscape contractor executing the vision. With the proper academic background and licensing, a person can be both landscape architect and landscape contractor. Here are a few tips for finding a great landscape architect:

      • Research online portfolios and find several landscape architects whose work interests you.
      • Read online reviews of client experiences.
      • Research whether the landscape architects you are interested in are currently licensed and in good standing with the licensing board, and check whether any complaints have been issued against them. Each state will have their own searchable database. For example, you can search for California landscape architects via the state’s Department of Consumer Affairs.
      • Request bids from your selected landscape architects.
      • Hire the one you like the most, taking care to have a clearly written contract outlining scope of work.

What should you look for when hiring a landscaper?

Landscaping can be costly — though it usually pays off in curb appeal and home resale value — so finding a landscaper who is worth the investment is important. When hiring a landscaper, look for proven success with the type of results you want. For example, if you know you want a drought-tolerant yard, research websites, reviews and portfolios that showcase beautiful drought-tolerant yards that the landscaper has installed. In addition to relevant experience, you’ll want to find a landscape contractor who has good client reviews. Good communication skills are another important quality in a landscape contractor, since everything from plant selection to hardscape installation needs to be discussed and agreed upon. A landscape contractor who is reliable, easy to understand and able to listen to what you want will help make the process seamless and enjoyable.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
