My job consisted only of packing and moving some heavy furniture within my home - not moving between homes. RMS came on time, did an excellent job, and communicated with me in a very professional manner. Marcus was an example of what I would look for in a vendor.
The moving crew was very friendly and did a great job moving me out of my home. When it was time to drop my belongings in my storage space, I later found that everything was piled in an unmanageable mess, with tables stacked on my leather couch, which left permanent marks on it. Decent service overall, but I would choose an alternate moving company in the future.
The best movers one can get!! Arthur and his team are extremely professional and active when it comes to moving your home. They get the work done quicker than you would have estimated and very courteous and careful about your stuff. Did I mention the most reasobable in town as well A++++++
The service: Moving out of my 22nd floor condo building apartment in downtown (Streeterville) Chicago to the far north suburbs of Illinois (Winthrop Harbor), with the estimated distance of just under 60 miles, thanks to a little basic research using Google Maps. Details of the Moving (items, boxes, etc.): -8 fully-loaded boxes containing clothes, linens, important books/documents, securely-wrapped kitchen ware (eg, glasses, plates) and small household appliances. The average size of the box was either 20x20x20 or 22x22x22. -3 different sized tables including. I didn't get a chance to disassemble one of them thinking i'd just leave it behind. As for the other two, I took the time to disassemble the legs which I then tucked away underneath the table tops and taped securely in place, thinking I could try to make things easier for the movers by making the process as efficient as possible. -4 pairs of neatly stacked chairs (total of 8 chairs, altogether). -1 antique two-person sofa with a heavy-set wood frame that you simply can't take apart. -1 queen-sized bed including mattress, box spring and frame (which I thought I'd also leave behind). -2 blue storage bins loaded with cook ware and smaller electronics/portables -some accessory items including a tall, long-standing light fixture and a vacuum which I thought about leaving behind as well. -2 overly-filled open-top boxes with trash and garbage -a wine rack and dresser which I actually donated to one of the building maintenance people instead of trashing it Why I chose Apex over four top-rated professional moving companies that I researched about on yelp, google and from word of mouth: Because I was a little pressed with time, I used Thumbtack for the first time and saw a few moving companies reach out to me with pretty reasoable offers. For someone who has moved around quite often, I've learned to do whatever you can to make it easier for the movers from the time of pick-up to the actual drop-off. With that said, I don't always believe in hourly-paid services regardless of industry. There are those who milk the system, providing little service but know how to turn a profit. As a customer, I just wanted to keep it straightforward and honest. I called around, asked for quotes and questioned exactly where each of my hard-earned dollar goes towards. I noticed most places charging hourly rates, sometimes sending over 2 or 3 people to do the job. I also noticed most places charging for 2 or 3-hour minimums. Expecting to pay at the very least, $250-375, I certainly couldn't see myself forking up anything over $650. That's just how it goes. So, I tried my best to make the process very efficient, for my sake as a customer. I kept everything straightforward. I explained exactly in detail what I was moving, how many people I felt could get the job done effectively and what my price point was set at. With that said, I also knew that it takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes in driving distance from downtown Chicago to Winthrop Harbor on a good day. To get the most value, I looked at ways to save time on the loading. I had the building manager assist by reserving the elevator to facilitate moving efforts. From the way I looked at it, I couldn't see this taking any longer than 4 hours at most including the driving itself. So I reached out to Adam from Apex, explained my situation and asked about the $100 flat-fee for travel, which included the truck and the distance. I wanted to take advantage of that especially after other places were trying to mark up their prices by playing into the "well, there could be traffic..." and suggesting that it could take up to 5-7 hours, which I thought was a bit ridiculous. When I called Apex, Adam realized that I wasn't messing around. I told him that I really didn't want to spend more than $500 or so. I also told him I didn't think 3 people would be necessary for the job. Realistically, I knew this would take probably 3.5-4 hours altogether so I wanted to be fair and said I'd be willing to pay $450 to get the job done. He was more than receptive to the idea especially even after I reminded him that I'd be fine with paying a little more if needed. So I just finished up with the move-out today, which went better than I even expected. The two gentlemen had arrived at the loading dock, at least 15 minutes ahead, called me to inform me and even communicated with the building manager directly to coordinate the use of the elevator. These guys were very professional and even down-to-earth. We probably could've chatted for hours but we both realized how important it was not to waste each other's valuable time. I felt awful for jam-packing boxes to full-capacity and asking if they could be kind enough to help with the last minute request in throwing the trash out. Even when I hesitated about taking the bed, the sofa and table, they were so encouraging and helpful, making it all work out. They even disassembled the bed frame and treated each and every item with care, which I appreciated. The move itself took just about 4 hours. For the service they provided, it was definitely worth the $450. Everyone has been accommodating with any of my needs and requests. They're very professional and respectful. Most importantly, they were very open and honest, not worrying about getting the run-around that others would easily take advantage of. Thank you again to everyone at Apex for all your help, making it such a painless move. I would certainly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy, hardworking moving company. Had a GREAT moving experience! They loaded up the truck very quickly and unloaded it just as fast. Moving a 1BR apartment took about 2 hours. Would highly recommend.
Good Bye Angies List Ollie and his partner were super heroes. I had 2 rooms of over size and heavy and awkward furniture to store in the garage while the carpeting in my home was getting replaced. They arrived at the promised time, keeping in touch all the while-I only found them on thumbtack late last night. They worked so hard and so quickly i was amazed. What a happy surprise. I hope they will come back when the carpet is finished to help me put all the stuff back!
My boyfriend and I moved yesterday into our new place and King David Moving was great. The company called to confirm our move the day before, and the lead mover, Martin, called when he was 15 minutes away the day of the move. We had a move window of 8-9, and they were there right on time. We had three movers for moving a 2bed. We were finished right around 1 or so - under the estimated time and budget. Martin and crew were super fast and very nice. Best move experience in Chicago.
We found Alliane on Thumbtack and within the hour I had a response from Phyllis. She was extremely helpful in getting our in home moving estimate scheduled with Onnesimo. He came to our home, which was super helpful and was able to look at everything to give us an accurate quote. No other company offered this and other companies just had you fill out online forms (waste of time)!!!! He suggested the right amount of men and 2 trucks since we also had items in a storage unit about 15 mins away. Their price beat all the other companies. They followed up on the move several times and arrived on time for moving day. Our team of 5 men was amazing!!! They were quick, efficient and polite. We were moving with a 6 month old and had lots of items we wanted packed in a specific way. We also had 3 big wine fridges filled with wine to move. They moved it all so carefully. They were so wonderful. Everything arrived in one piece and put into the rooms we desired. They made the moving process so easy from beginning to end. So glad I found them...Highly recommend them!!!

Joel is great person to deal with. Very honest and prompt with any questions through the phone or messages. Having a great customer service is big plus for me. Initially hired 4 Men crew for moving but came with 3 Men crew due to their internal issue. However, speed of work felt like if there were 4 men. They are very careful with moving, packing. They wanted to make sure to do the moving in safe and right way. Also price was very competitive with others. I would recommend and will hire them soon for in-house moving as well.
Erez and his team are very efficient, professional and organized. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to move a home or an office. They dis-assembled a huge desk unit from one location, re-assembled it at the other in no time. Prices were very reasonable and they have excellent communication throughout the entire process.
They were great. We had a hicup in moving on a weekend and had to reschedule and Joe was completely accommodating. On the day of moving Joe and another mover were on time and even helped pick up the u-haul. We had about 15 medium and heavy duty boxes along with some basic furniture and they helped load everything in 45 mins and was done very carefully. I would definitely recommend these guys for accommodating us even 1 day before we moved and being super easy to work with.
They handled all of or pre-packed boxes and all our furniture with care. We have some exspensive pieces and had a negative experience with a previous move/moving company, so it was refreshing to have a good experience. There was great communication throughout, and did an excellent job fitting everything into our storage unit. The only problem, was we planned to pay by credit card. We were told by the office that was fine a few days in advance, and that there would be a 3% charge, which we were ok with. The head mover told us this was fine when he arrived, then proceeded to have us fill out the paperwork. At the end of the move he then came to us and said he couldn't get ahold of the office and we'd have to pay by cash. He said if we didn't pay by cash we'd have to wait endlessly to hear back from the office. We didn't believe what he was saying, but obliged because we were on a time constraint. We felt a little scammed and are now unsure if we will use them again when we complete the second part of our move this summer. We'd probably require written communication from them, that we will exclusively pay by card and there will not be any other options the day of.
I would recommend Pick Up Movers to anyone intending to move and working on a budget. From a personal experience, these guys are the best the market can offer. My experience with them was positive right from when I first contacted them asking for a quote for moving my house stuff from Illinois to Tennessee. There were no hidden costs and Frank, the customer assistant was so open to any further queries. This made me feel needed as a client and more assured that I was dealing with the right company.
This move has been a changeling from the start. And to moving across country in the middle of winter is just crazy. But the last part of the move was the most pleasant. JD and his staff were a light at the end of this journey. They were fast, Professional and just all around great people. These men did a fantastic job! They were very accommodating (I needed the truck to come early in the morning and make multiple stops) and they were the only people willing to do so! Moving from the suburbs to the city, they were able to lift all of our heavy objects, and move SO QUICKLY into the new Chicago apartment. We had a time crunch and they were able to work within it. I would highly recommend these 2 men for your next move. They are also very kind!

I hired two Bellhops for two hours to help me move out of my storage unit onto the moving truck. Having the extra hands helped to alleviate any stress of moving and they did all the heavy lifting. The entire process was expedited because of their assistance.
J. C. Movers helped us twice. The first time was for moving across the country, they loaded our U-Haul truck and drove it to our new home about 1200 miles away. We trusted the driver with a key to the back of the truck just in case some items shifted during the trip. They did a wonderful job, everything was loaded properly, everything arrived safely, nothing was damaged. We were kept informed of the location of the truck by cell phone. The second time was to remove all items our basement and garage from our old house that was unoccupied. Once again we trusted them with the keys to the house. There was 8 years of clutter, old furniture and plan old junk. They did the job promptly, the day after I called which exceeded my expectations. They kept me informed via text messages, phone calls and photos sent via Smart Phone. It was just like I was there but I didn't need to be. Nothing was damaged, the house and garage were left broom clean as I requested. The whole process was so easy and not stressful at all. I worked in customer service 32 years and I highly recommend them.
