I had an amazing experience with my recent move using Johnny On The Move. The two movers we're on time, they had all the tools needed to move everything safely and quickly. They also took great care with my fragile items. I moved from a 3rd floor walk-up with pretty narrow stairs but they moved everything with no problem. I would definitely use them again.

This was my first time using movers in Chicago and I will definitely be calling them again for my next move. Dynamovers made moving absolutely painless! They were quick, friendly, professional, and most importantly, made sure my belongings were well taken care of.

Professional all the way around I used their service to load the front end of a long distance move. You don't know how good they are until you get to the other end and unload. Impressive

We were very happy with the movers. They were on time, early actually, professional, friendly, and took care with the furniture. They were fast packing and unloading and placed the furniture were we wanted it. Jason, the sales rep., was very easy and nice to work with.

We hired STI Long Distance Moving two days before we moved from Chicago to Dallas and Nick was so accommodating in getting the last minute request worked out. He was upfront about all the charges and the estimate was accurate and no surprise fees. Oscar and his crew in Chicago did a fantastic job packing and making sure everything was wrapped up and protected. Adam and his crew arrived in Dallas four days later and were great unloading and took the time to go through the entire inventory list to make sure we had everything. Would definitely recommend STI!

I called them less than 24 hours in advance of my move, but the movers still arrived right on time and started without delay. They worked extremely hard and managed to get some large, very awkwardly shaped pieces of furniture down then back up stairs without any issues. The whole move was significantly less expensive than one of the ‘name brands’ in moving — would definitely recommend!

Am so so so thankful that i found these guys!!! I was sent 3 movers.. And a truck..they were amazing!! These guys went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect.. My couch didnt fit through the front door and they actually had to take it out of my second story balcony!! They took such good care of my belongings... Wrapped everything up. They even helped pack boxes!! They didnt complain or get upset.. One of the movers actually ended up quitting his job after working for 10 hours and they only charged me for 2 men... They were so great.. I cannot cannot say enough good things about this company!! Would recommend and hire again!!

Emmet and his partners were very resourceful and capable with our spring 2016 long distance, cross country move. Emmet's customer service was top notch and he was very friendly with my children (which they loved!) He was sensitive to fragile items and was able to securely wrap and pad other valuable items. His organization of the truck was amazing as well. Emmet's work ethic and professionalism were what made me know I would call him for a local or long distance move again.

I had very positive experience with Trico Long Distance Movers, and Max and Valente in particular. I called the day before my move and got a good deal for two movers for three hours minimum. Max and Valente showed up promptly (I think even a little early), packed everything with care, and unloaded into my new apartment, all without a hassle and very friendly. A rare easy move. I'd highly recommend Pedro's, and especially Max and Valente.

I have moved around several times and every time I have used a mover there has been issues. I am so happy to say that this last time I used All Around Van Lines and the move went better than I could ever have expected. They were efficient and careful. They packed my paintings and crystal-ware very professionally. I would happily use these guys again if I need a long distance moving service. Its not easy to find such good help at a great price.

Alliance Movers delivered on their promise for our long distance move. Everything went smoothly from our first call to the delivery time. The customer service rep called me back with answers to questions I left messages about and I felt they were being honest about their process. We were allowed to switch the date to movers got to our house twice without the price going up. The movers got to us and worked like professionals in getting our stuff out and loaded into the truck. These guys worked with integrity and I would certainly vouch for their moving services. Thank you.

I was worried for my furniture because they were all quite old and heavy. But the movers from United relocation group took great care of them while moving them. The movers really paid attention to the old pieces and packed them so delicately. They made sure they stacked everything properly inside the van so nothing damages during the journey. They made the delivery right on time. The movers unpacked everything and put them where they belonged. I didn’t see the men complaining even for once. I admire these amazingly strong movers who made this move possible.

They were the very best! Everything was securly wrapped. My belonging had to moved from my home in Chicago, two storage units and then off to South Carolina. They delivered exactly when they said they would. Even after the long drive they moved everything in our home and set-up as promised. They were resonably priced and my belongings didn't have to travel long distance with other people's belongings, like most long distant movere require.there was not even a nick on one piece of furniture, i was very impressed with how they wrapped everything very secure. The owner of the company it on top of all the details and his employees were acceptional! Thank you Eko outstanding job! Ann Gaynor

They were simply outstanding during my long distance move. The movers arrived on time, took all responsibilities on their shoulders, did exactly as per situation demands and nicely managed to overcome the odds. I found these guys very punctual, friendly, polite and kind with my pets. So, for all these valid reasons I am recommending Citywide Movers

          Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
