I'm so satisfied with Scott coming over & training my German shepherd pup. It was such an amazing experience & I look forward to using the techniques with my pup. Just by going on one walk with Scott, my pup was so calm & I was so happy with the results. I would definitely recommend him. Thank you Scott. Your amazing. God bless u always.
Sherry has a wealth of knowledge and experience when it came to training my dog as well as teaching me to help train my dog. She is very gentle with her doggy clients yet firm. The classes are honestly fun, informative and practical can't get any better than that.
Smart Dogs came to our rescue when we rescued Baron, our 1 ½ year old German Shepard. Baron was very stubborn, and reluctant to our methods of training. We had tried other dog trainers with no luck and contemplated the possibility of sending him back to the foster family. That is when we came across Smart Dogs and they have forever changed our lives along with Barons. He spent two weeks with Ian and Kristy at their home, where they trained him daily and gave him unconditional love. He is now home with us where we enjoy seeing the progress he continues to make and being part of our family. We cant thank Ian and Kristy enough. Bill and Leslie
We sent our dog Trapper for training with Diana. He is an 8 month old German Shepard. We sent him for basic puppy training and he is doing very well now that he is home. We wanted a program that was more personal and one on one, as we have heard horror stories about boarding kennels. It was great to know he would be in a loving home with other dogs rather than a scary leaky basement kennel area. Also the trainer kept in contact daily with updates and tips to caring for him once he was home. All in all our experience was great! We highly recommend YBFDH!
Very professional and very effective for my 5 months old German Shepard puppy. I liked the idea that my dog was staying at trainers house, still interacting with people after hours of training , instead of being left in kennel for hours. Aneta Oblazny
I hired Gale, to help train my puppy. She had him sitting, down and staying within two sessions! She uses positive training, so my dog listened and responded quickly. Everyone that meets my dog is SHOCKED, by how well trained and behaved he is. Gale is flexible and has no problem helping with situations, as they come up. I can call her anytime and she will help fix any problems, that I'm having. I had used other trainers, before Gale and I was not pleased with any of them! A lot of trainers don't connect with the dog, use prong collars and don't make training fun or exciting. Not only will your dog enjoy working with her, so will you!
She always gives wonderful feedback on my puppies, including pictures! I was very impressed by the amount of dog training experience she has. I am so glad to have found a reliable and trustworthy dog walker!
Sunset and Claudia are seriously the best!!! Anyone would be hard pressed to find better bred German Shepards within the five local states. As a trainer, she is able to facilitate the rapid advancement of all dogs: not just her exceptionally well-bred dogs. I am a combat veteran and was deployed in some dangerous places... I really never had an idea what a well-trained dog was actually capable of, and would have chosen my standard issue weapon first. Today, I would take the dogs trained from Sunset first, and they are the way more lovable and family friendly than the former too! My 4 year old daughter has a best friend that will keep her safe whether I was there or not. I would trust my daughter to safely play ANYWHERE with her puppy Jack around!
Leslie is an excellent dog trainer, patient, diligent, organized...a true professional who we would recommend to any dog owner looking for a trainer. Paul & Molly
Prior to getting our dog, I saw Jesse walking down Michigan Avenue with 4 dogs (3 off leash, 1 on leash). In total amazement we stared as these four dogs followed his every movewhen Jesse stopped at a cross walk they all stopped and sat, when he walked, they walked. I joked that we had just spotted the Chicago dog whisper! Months later we got Keenan, a 12 week-old Irish Retriever (1/2 Irish setter-1/2 Golden Retriever). I had grown up with English Setters and had even had one as an adult, so I was familiar with the challenges of training this; high energy, stubborn, prey driven, and oddly sensitive breed. I immediately started training Keenan off leash so he could explore, hunt and runat a time when he could still easily be caught. By the time Keenan was nine months old, people frequently stopped me in Chicago and commented on how well trained he was. However, despite every attempt we could not squash Keenans propensity to pull, zigzag and dart forward while he was on a leash. Over a six month period we worked diligently to address that behavior through; collars, treats, abrupt turns, gentle leaders, harness, clickers, whistles, high value treats, pulling back, stopping, I read several books on dog training, watched countless YouTube videos, and even went to a seminar where a different Chicago dog trainer discussed Loose Leash Walkingnothing had a lasting effect. To intensify our frustration Keenan started to go through his second fear stage. During this time our once sweet, shy puppy, changed into unpredictable and reactive dogbarking, growling and snapping at random dogs (sometimes in response and other times for no apparent reason). I knew it was time to call a professional when I no longer trusted or knew how Keenan would react in particular settings. We met with Jesse (Canine Perspective) in late November 2014, we were immediately impressed with his insight into Keenans personality as well as his philosophy and plan for addressing it. I am so thankful we invested our time and money into hiring Jesse. Everyday new situations arise; some I know how to address because of Jesse, and others I still need his help with. Life is stressful enough, I want my time with my dog to be fun & relaxingJesse has taught us how it can be!

Rachel is patient, positive, and upbeat!!! Rachel has a passion for dogs and dog training!!! Marc Findlay, owner and handler of Salem the Doberman
Are experience was truly amazing! We have a 1 year old German Shepard mix that is high energy and within the first half hour Dee had her understanding commands like sit, bed, lie down and stay. She also showed us how to get her to stop jumping and nipping. Not only was the training great and effective but her recommendations for items to help walking and keeping her busy while we are not home were as well. We also really liked that she is very passionate at helping dogs and and their owners and that was very evident because she works with you during first appointment and then if you need any extra help you can text, call or email her! I would highly recommend this dog trainer!!
Adam is AMAZING! We've had other dog trainers, but no one who comes close to comparing to his skill level. More than that, though, he makes it FUN! His lighthearted approach to some trying issues certainly helped ease our tension. What I have found so interesting is how our dog reacted to him the first time. He knew that Adam was in control immediately. I am so glad that a co-worker recommended him after he worked miracles on her dog, too! He is the third dog trainer we've ever used and he will be the last - there's no one better!
I was really nervous when I set out to find a dog trainer for my German Shepherd, but all that was put to ease when Nicole came by for a meet and greet with my dog. She explained to me all of her training methods and answered any questions I had. She was very easy to talk to about any problems I had concerning my dog. And after three weeks of her board and train program, I am wowed! Her results are outstanding. My dog now gives me her full attention, is much more calm, and no longer pulls while walking. I kniw these
Marcus and Chris were great with our Lab. We had signed her up for a 10 day board and learn training program, and we see a marked improvement in her while walking on the leash - she is more responsive to commands, and it's so much easier to stop her from pulling on the leash when there are other dogs around. The trainers are really nice, and it's obvious they love dogs and love what they do. Would highly recommend them to other dog owners!!!
Had such an Awesome experience with Kathy, she is reliable honest and friendly and i completely trust leaving my 4 years old German shepherd (Cesar) with her for hours. Cesar loves going out with her.

Kidd and I started training our own dogs at Woodlawn with great passion for our dogs I lost the passion Kidd took his passion to another level and has grown into a great trainer one of the best in Chicago and that is a short list if you want your dog trained top notch and look good doing it I suggest you call Kidd and he got you
I had been contemplating additional obedience training for my very energetic seven year-old German Shorthair/English Pointer mix, Watson, when I discovered Tony Gordon of Woodlawn Canine Academy while at the Arlington Park Pet Expo in March 2015...and I knew that I had found the right trainer! I watched Tony doing informal mini demonstrations with his dog, Echo. I also spoke with Connie about dog training and the programs offered by Woodlawn. I am very happy that Watson and I signed up for the private training at my home! As part of the training Watson and I have begun to attend the group sessions as well. Not only is Watson being trained, but I am also learning how to handle my dog (yes, I am also being trained!), which is an important and integral part of the whole training process. Training, which involves both corrections and positive reinforcement, is a commitment and ongoing for us between scheduled sessions with Tony. Watson no longer pulls on his leash during walks and that is only one of his accomplishments. I am just completely amazed with some of the other things that Watson does or does not do since we began training! I just gotta say that Tony is a caring and dedicated trainer! I am one happy Woodlawn Canine Academy client! :D
Used Good Fur U (Lisa) to train my 2-year old German Shepherd Dog. Amazing. She was communicative and explained everything to me to help me work with my dog.
Owner/Trainer, Kevin Stangler, of Mannered Mutts Dog Training has such a wonderfully infectious passion for sharing his craft of communicating with dogs. His explanations and demonstrations are very clear and professional. Kevin is ready to answer any and all questions throughout the process. I've never felt rushed or that I was doing something incorrectly during a lesson. Kevin always has a positive approach toward guiding me and my 4 mo. old German Shepherd puppy. Many of the "puppy issues" I had concern about (jumping on people, stealing items from other dogs' mouths, heeling, recall, and bolting to play with other dogs) have been addressed during lessons with Kevin. The results after three lessons are fantastic. Puppy obedience progress now includes recall off leash, stays off people, won't try to bolt and play across the street, doesn't steal from other dogs (puppy is understanding boundaries), and heeling is improving with daily exercises. Kevin's goal to help me and my pup work and play as one unit has strengthened our human/canine bond. Kevin always helps us feel comfortable and confident in our learning and success toward dog obedience, safety and companionship. Because I live a 3 hr drive away, Kevin even does video sessions with me. Thanks, Mannered Mutts! -Rob E.
My experience could not have been better. My German Shepherd, Simon, was in serious need of obedience training, and Rich was wonderful. I loved the fact that he believes in positive reinforcement rather than any sort of inappropriate training that would involve hitting, spanking, choking, etc. After the first training session I noticed a huge improvement and Rich gave me great homework tips to continue working on in between training sessions. We've had several sessions and I feel like I have a different dog. He is so sweet and well behaved, I cannot express enough gratitude to Rich. He was so much more knowledgeable than other trainers I have known and worked with over the years. I will be telling anyone I know who needs dog training to contact Rich at Best In Home!
I just got my dog back today. She responds better to commands, her barking is almos zero, and walks better on a leash. Wish I knew about Amy sooner. I still have a few follow up training sessions, more for me than my dog. Amy definitly cares.
Yana was great at teaching me how to train my German Shepherd puppy. The lessons seemed appropriately structured, some were over an hour, some were 40 minutes. She always stayed as long as it took, and never minded that me and my girlfriend always had a million questions! It is obvious she loves working with dogs, and I recommend her very much!
