Mark Johnson's Professional Tennis Coaching

Introduction: I am a former ATP touring pro from Johannesburg, South Africa. I originally ranked number 1 in South Africa under 18s with four national junior titles. I played collegiate tennis in the USA, four-time All American honors and a holder of a national title. Recently, I was the winner of 3 Illinois State Open doubles championships and a winner of the Midwest open doubles championship. In the late '90s, I was ranked number 1 in Chicago, singles division. I have been coaching tennis for 25 years, from national-ranked kids to the beginner level, adults and kids. My main objective is to get players involved and participating in this great sport, learning the game, and most importantly, having fun. My teaching style is very different from the normal standard method of teaching that many pros teach in the United States. My teaching method is called the Actions Method, where the game of tennis is taught through four skills, which are as follows: * Perception (judging) * Decision (deciding) * Execution (hitting) * Feedback (recovery) This has been my teaching philosophy.
