"Mr. Bob's Personal Philosophy/Mission Statement":
Music is a language. We use language to communicate by sharing our ideas with others, learning ideas from other people by asking questions and coming together to create something greater than ourselves. So please feel free to strike up a conversation with me anytime and I'm sure we'll both learn quite a lot from each other :)
I play a variety of instruments, play a variety of styles of music and teach students of all ages and skill levels. Although my main instruments are guitar, bass, piano, ukulele and drums.
As per my business card: "Instrument and Music Theory Lessons for Students Of All Ages From Beginner To Advanced Levels"
I enjoy everything about the work I do! I get to play music with and teach curious, motivated, talented students and in the process I generally learn something such as a new song, style of playing or way of teaching that I can then share with my other students. I also get to enjoy the hospitality of the clients and parents of students that I teach.

Bob is an excellent teacher for all ages and a wide range of skill levels. My wife and 5 year old son have taken pianolessons with him for almost 6 months and have developed a lot in a short time. Bob makes learning to play fun and informative through a wide song selection and not losing focus on the fundamentals.
Details: Younger than 6 years old • No, the student cannot read music • No formal training • What the teacher recommends • Yes, the student has a piano • 30 minutes • My home, venue, etc.

I started with Mr. Bob as an adult beginner piano student. Every week he is encouraging and seeks out new music that aligns with my goals and interests. As a mom and teacher, my practice availability varies from week to week, and he is always patient with my varying levels of progress. My 11-year-old son observed our practices and wanted to start playing as well, so now we do back-to-back lessons. It is so convenient that he comes to our home. He is also flexible with rescheduling practices when we have conflicts.
Details: 26 - 44 years old • No, the student cannot read music • No formal training; some self-taught experience • Pop • Yes, the student has a piano • I'm flexible • At the pro’s location • My home, venue, etc.

Bob has been great! He has been working with my 6 year old son weekly for a few months. He's very patient with wiggly and easily distracted little kids but still able to make great progress with them! He strikes a perfect balance between structured lessons and letting kids explore the instrument and find joy in creating music.
Very professional, flexible and we appreciate him coming to the house. I would highly recommend Bob to anyone looking to get their kids private music lessons!
Details: 6 - 9 years old • No, the student cannot read music • No formal training • What the teacher recommends • Yes, the student has a keyboard • 30 minutes • At the pro’s location • My home, venue, etc.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
$35 per 1/2 hour lesson; $50 for a 45-minute lesson and $60 for a 1-hour private instrument lesson house-call. It is the same for remote lessons.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first thing is usually scheduling. Once we figure out a day and time that works for both of us, we are set. Some new clients request referrals or testimonials to verify my work history, which I am happy to pass along. I have many very satisfied clients who are more than happy to share their experience with me, with you! Occasionally, we have to try a few days and times before we get settled into a regular spot but that usually doesn't take long and then the time is yours indefinitely.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Moraine Valley Community College: Jazz combo, jazz big band, 2 1/2 years of music theory, guitar lessons, piano lessons. A.A.
Elmhurst College: classical guitar ensemble, electric guitar ensemble, concert band (string bass), string band (3 semesters string bass, 1 semester viola), "Late Night Blues" vocal jazz group (electric bass guitar), jazz theory and improvisation, jazz keyboard, guitar lessons. Degree: N/A.
