We are a family owned company serving the Chicagoland area since 1971. We are certified installers for the majority of material manufacturers. Most importantly we treat people how we would want to be treated and all of our employees have attention to detail whether it’s a small project or a large one. We specialize in Flat and pitched roofs. All work comes with a full project warranty. Owners are connected to every project to assure customer satisfaction. Illinois state unlimited roofing license/bonded and insured. Please note: if you do not own the property yet please do not reach out we cannot give roof inspections unless the property owner allows it.

What I do for a living relies on me being responsive and accountable to my work team and the folks we serve, 24/7. As a result, I lack patience for business owners who I have to chase. I took control of a roof problem at my condo building. And let me tell you - finding a roofer that I felt was trustworthy and communicative was proving to be a problem - until I found Steve Stergo! When I was reaching the end of my rope, I stumbled on Thumbtack and though I was new to the platform - figured I'd give it a try to find a roofing contractor. Steve responded shortly (I mean, within minutes) to my inquiry and we were in touch by phone so he could visit the site later that day. My HOA had a bid 24 hours later and retained Stergo roofing to do the work. Steve himself showed up at the work site which is amazing - so many owners are not engaged in project management the way Steve is. And Steve also gave me some advice that I passed on to the HOA about how long we have before we need to look at a full roof replacement. This will help us plan and set aside funds for the work on the horizon. Following a big rain, Steve reached out to me to see how repairs are holding up, and I plan to reach out to him if anything looks amiss. Really - I know how frustrating it can feel to find a contractor to do work in Chicago, and how you feel like you're locked in a cycle of calls and emails that go unnoticed. Even in the middle of this busy construction season, Stergo roofing was on the ball. I'm so grateful.

We Worked with Steve We had a roof leak on a flat roof. We had gotten about 4 estimates. We met with Steve and he was very friendly and professional. He was fair in pricing and gave us a 2 year warranty on a re- roof job. ( not many contractors will do this on a re- roof). We gave him 50% percent down and the rest on completion of the roof. The crew showed up on time , did a great job, clean up ( no mess) and then Steve came back to make sure we were happy. I am always worried when dealing with roofers but Steve, kept his promises and excueted the job perfectly. We will be using him again to seal the roof in 2 years and then do a complete tear off. Any roofer can do asphalt shingles but it takes an experience roofer to do a flat roof as it often requires using a torch to seal materials. We are very thankful that we found this company. The flat 3,600 square foot flat roof on our condo building needed to be recovered. Out of the 6 contractors we interviewed Stergo Roofing stood out for their attention to detail, ability to answer serval questions during the bidding process with prompted honest professional answers. Also Steve was able to offer improvements to the roofing system, without going over the budget. This type if professionalism made the association feel comfortable choosing Stergo. After being awarded the contract Stergo was able to start within two days and finish within three days. We asked for a photo diary of the work and Steve delivered without fail. It was nice working with a contractor that delivered on what they promised.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
It's not easy to have a standard price because every project is different. You can only have a standard if you are fixed to replace roofs. We only offer what's best for our customers and in many cases total roof replacement is not necessary. So every project needs to be inspection to determine what will be needed to supply a weathertight roofing system.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Good communication and attempt to explain the process so that the customer has a good understanding of what's wrong with there roof and how we plan to address the issues.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Have 30 years of experience.
