Murphy Roche School of Irish Music

(11 reviews)

What do you love about your job?

Saturday is the best day of the week. That's our teaching day for Murphy Roche. Each student gets a private music lesson, but they can stay all day and work with our drillers and assistant teachers to hone their skills. We have a great time playing music together all day long. In the summer, we pitch canopies so we can play music outside all afternoon. It's all great fun and produces excellent musicians. Most of our students are world-ranked Irish musicians, whether as ensemble players or soloists. A substantial number are world-title medalists.

What or who inspired you to start your own business?

Irish music isn't the kind of music that kids have to practice as much as it is something that they want to practice and play. They love the chance to perform. I love having the opportunity to teach them and learn from them.

    The Music Studio

I have been receiving voice lessons from David Eickstaedt for the past three years and made a lot of progress with my singing voice. At the beginning of a lesson, when he introduces a new idea, it seems as if it will never help me. But thirty minutes later when I'm applying it to a song, I always find that it does work. After all, he is the teacher and he really knows what he's doing.

I work with singers, from beginners through advanced performers of any level of experience and in all types and styles of music. You may see my website for detailed testimonials from all types of singers. The sessions may also be shared on Skype. The sessions are recorded for you with vocal limbering and warm-up routines, vocal cooling-down routines and vocal healing routines that you can use for the rest of your singing and vocal life. I am a vocal therapist, voice teacher, vocal performance coach and alternative healing consultant. My book on Rak Vocal Care is being published by Balboa Press (of Hay House) within a year, and my book "Becoming Energy: Affirmations For All Creative Beings" is available on Kindle at Amazon. I sing three songs on YouTube, which illuminate my ability to sing what I teach. My blog on WordPress "RakVocal Sings!" and my RakVocal page on Facebook shares helpful advice/info for singers and bands; you can begin learning and helping your voice and singing right away. • Private Vocal Lessons

    Terry Hudson

"A vocal coach is a music teacher who instructs singers on how to improve their singing technique, take care of and develop their voice, and prepare for the performance of a song or other work. "Vocal coaches may give private music lessons to singers, or they may coach singers who are rehearsing on stage or who are singing during a recording session. Vocal coaches are used in both classical music and in popular music styles, such as rock and gospel. "While some vocal coaches provide a range of instruction on singing techniques, others specialize in areas such as breathing techniques or diction and pronunciation." - Wikipedia
