Yorlanda S. says, "I hired Cabrera Public Adjusters to rebuild an elevated deck; a project that is taken me two years to complete due to horrible experiences with two previous contractors. My permit was scheduled to expire October 15, 2026 and I found it difficult to trust any Contractor as the prior one built me a deck that was not built up to building code which I had to have torn down. The other Contractor took my monies (half deposit) and tore down the deck last year in 2025; however, he never completed the project as he spent my deposit on something else; and never came back to complete the project in 2026 and just came up with all kinds of excuses as to why he could not get back out to finish the job. I knew that I had to make a decision and trust someone in order to have the project completed. After speaking to people that I knew personally to inquire to see if they knew of any good Contractors who could rebuild my deck I ended up back on google looking for a contractor. I received a response from Cabrera in mid August responding to my inquiries. I did not realize immediately that he advertised on Thumbtack as this time around I did not make any inquiries on that particular platform. I ended up responding to Cabrera emails and anytime I reached out to him with questions he was always responsive. He came out to my location the end of August to meet with the building inspector to discuss with him directly what was required so they had a clear understanding of what the finish product should entail. All that I asked of him was that he could start when it was convenient for him as long as the rebuild was completed by October 15th which is the expiration date of my permit. He scheduled the demolition of what was remaining of the deck for September 8th right after the Labor Day holiday. His crew showed up a scheduled to begin the demolition and the digging of the holes for the posts. I reached out to the building inspector to come out for the first inspection to inspect the holes for the post to make sure they were deep enough. Lord and behold the building inspector had taken leave and was out of the office the rest of the week. He was not able to come out until the following Monday. It has been raining regularly over the last couple of weeks and I was for sure we would be headed toward the end of September before the deck would be completed. Cabrera and his team continued to work behind the scene and when the building inspector came out for the first inspection not only did they have the holes dug they went as far as to start the actual framing of the deck itself; which the inspector would have had to come out for a second inspection to approve. When the inspector came out for the initial inspection he was very pleased with the dig and stated that the team even dug down further than what is required which is a good thing. He was even more pleased at the fact they had begun working on the framing up to the point they were actually ready for the second inspection; and he was able to inspect and approved both parts of the project. Matter of fact he told me there was no need to call him back out until the deck was completed. I am so pleased to say that Cabrera and his team completed the full rebuild of my deck yesterday, September 18, 2026 almost a full month ahead of my anticipated date. His team was very professional and each time I saw them they explained to me what they had done thus far and what they needed to do in the next steps of the process. More importantly he did not just take my monies and run away and blow me off or give me excuse after excuse as to why he was not able to get back out to complete the project. Be aware of some of these Thumbtack Contractors because both of the previous ones I used I found on this same platform. I was very hesitant to hire Cabrera as he advertise his business on Thumbtack; and I really do not know how I found him because I vowed that I would never ever use Thumbtack again for major home improvement projects. I have to say he was God sent; as I am very happy and could not be more pleased with the finished product. I do have a final inspection with the building inspector scheduled for next week and I am confident that I will pass inspection and will finally be able to put this ordeal behind me and focus on other things like pursuing legal actions to recoup some of the monies I have lost. I highly recommend this contractor and will be recommending Cabrera Public Adjusters to my family, friends and associates. I will definitely hire him again and will be reaching out to him for projects in the near future."See more
