Joshua is a great guy and really helped me out. Would highly recommend him, and anyone can contact me as a reference if needed - Tony at 314-249-0038. Had a general contractor who did a poor job on a restoration of a walk-in closet/vanity area. Found Josh on Thumbtack, who came on short notice and did the following tasks: Bought shelving/brackets for me, identical to what I had, and added a second level of shelving in the closet on either side. Transplanted separate shelving from the closet back wall to another room. Spackled and painted various holes and rough wall areas. Bought wooden quarter-round trim and installed it on the vanity base. Wood-stained a neglected area of the vanity. Removed the entire vanity countertop, cut it to proper size, then re-installed it. Repositioned light fixture and mirror to proper centering. Cut and hammered in a piece of baseboard on that back closet wall, also neglegted by the previous contractor. I feel very lucky that I could find somebody like Josh to get this sorted out for me that quickly.

All the people on the team were nice and courteous. They got the job done within a week of signing the contract which was very helpful! Did a great job painting the interior walls and the deck. "even replaced the bad boards on the deck" Kept me updated daily on progress and if anything was happening I may want to know about.

I was on the look out for a good handy man and I found randy through his wife who cleans my apartment. His job is very neat. He installed light fixtures, mounted tv on the wall and installed curtains.. He can do pretty much anything.. And he charges quite reasonably too. My husband and I are very impressed with his work.

I bought a new fridge for my in-laws, but it was too big for the space it would be occupying, by 1 inch! I really didn't want to return it, because it was part of a discounted set, and my mother-in-law really needed the bigger fridge. Being an avid fan of the HGTV channel, I told myself, "Moving the wall 1 inch will be no big deal!" Oh boy was I wrong! I was in wayyyy over my head on this one. I got Brad from C&B Construction to come in and take a look. He was able to get me the extra space I needed for the fridge! Brad was able to get the job done in a very reasonable amount of time without rushing the job or cutting corners. Also, throughout the discussions and the work, Brad never made me feel bad about measuring the space for the fridge wrong. He just said we were going to get that fridge in where it belongs! The new wall looks great, the fridge fits perfectly, and my mother-in-law couldn't be happier! I will definitely call C&B next time I need work done.

Hired Eric and his team to fix a wall that had been damaged by water. Quick to quote, quick to get in, about $500 cheaper than other quotes I had gotten. Looks good, will look great once I get it repainted.

Earlier this year my house caught on fire. My home needed a full demolishion and overhaul. I hired Ollie (Oliver) McDowell as my contractor. Ollie did the full job from top to bottom including new roof, new walls, new windows, doors, new floors, new walls, fully primed and painted, new cabnets in both kitchen and bathroom. Ollie hand tiled my back splash in both the kitchen and bathroom. New Tub, toilet, and sink. New floors including carpeting, He had my home re-wired, new heating and aircondition.....etc. Ollie stucked within his time frame that was quoted on the bid. Ollie used good quality material in my house and put his personal professional touch in as well. You name it he did it. If there was something he could have done better, I never saw, because everything and ALL my encounters during the reconstruction was perfessional. Ollie is the most perfessional contractor you will ever want to use for your services. I would recommend Ollie on a scale from 1 - 10, with 10 being perfect I would rate him a perfect 10!! He is most definitly a professional contractor!!!

Jesse came and did an amazing job fixing an old contractors awful job in our basement. He created two new corners on our wall, fixed another corner, refinished a damaged wall, taped and mudded a different portion of wall, and matched texture on our ceiling after damage. He gave us a great quote for the job, ended up taking more time than originally quoted (without charging us for it!) to make sure it was dry for paint, was courteous of our home, and was meticulous in fixing small details. We would recommend him to anyone needing work done in their home! Thanks JP Watson Contracting for making our space something we can enjoy and be proud of!

Carl Installed our patio and retaining wall for us, we bought 2 Inch natural stone slabs that weighed several hundred pounds each, he and his brother Jake had to install the patio around two existing water features, they also installed a 3ft retaining wall around the majority of the patio then placed 6 boulders each weighing 500 pounds or more ontop of the patio to blend the water features into the patio, carl also installed a large fire pit In the center of the patio. Carl and Jakes professionalism and attention to detail through out the project was unmatched by any contractor I have ever dealt with, I would highly recommend Brumit Services for any job big or small.

What is the difference between sheetrock and drywall?

People sometimes use the terms “sheetrock” and “drywall” interchangeably, but they are not exactly the same. Drywall is the industry term for prefabricated sheets of wall, while Sheetrock is the brand name of a type of drywall. Depending on what room is being built, your drywall installation pro will select different thicknesses or grades of drywall. Standard residential drywall is ½-inch thick. Garage walls adjacent to a living space are typically ⅝-inch thick and serve as a firewall. For a garage ceiling, most contractors will use firewall-grade drywall materials to keep your home as safe as possible.

Different types of drywall can be color-coded to indicate their purpose. Purple or green drywall boards are often mold-resistant (MR) and are applied where moisture tends to accumulate, such as in bathrooms and basements or behind tile backsplashes at sinks. These mold-resistant sheets have a fiberglass instead of a paper facing finish to prevent water absorption. Regular drywall is gray or white. The drywall industry is constantly adapting with technology to provide safer and more targeted materials. You can even install soundproofing drywall to help prevent noise transfer through rooms.

How much will it cost to fix a hole in the wall?

If you have a hole in your wall, don’t despair; drywall repair professionals can patch the hole and repaint the surface and no one will be the wiser. The cost to repair a drywall hole depends on the size of the surface area of the damage, the materials and labor required, and (for a minor repair) any minimum service fee the repair company may charge. The actual labor and drywall prices may be lower than the minimum service fee, but pros must ensure their business overhead costs are met when they go out on minor jobs. To help keep costs low once the pros get there, make sure you have the right paint on hand if you want them to do to a touch up after the repair is complete, so you don’t keep them wait (and charging you for their time) while you search in the garage. Here are two examples of average prices for smaller drywall repair jobs:

            • Approximate cost to repair a 5-foot crack in a wall: $125 (labor $75 and materials $50).
            • Approximate cost to repair a 3-foot ceiling crack: $150.

How much does it cost to put up drywall?

The national average cost to hire a drywall installation professional ranges $375-$1,500, depending on the job at hand and where you are in the country. Your drywall installation cost will often be lower if the professional is installing the drywall in a new construction with open access as opposed to a remodel. The square footage of the job, the amount of materials, and the labor required also determine drywall prices. According to drywall pros, materials costs can range from 15 percent to 50 percent of your total project cost, depending on the work you’re having done. Request several quotes from drywall installation companies to find the right fit for your construction project. The quotes may be based on the company’s standard cost per square foot or a calculation of the time estimated to complete the job plus the size of the job plus materials and any travel fees. For example, drywall installation for one or two standard-size rooms could cost $900-$1,500. The cost to hang and tape an outbuilding with approximately 40 drywall sheets at 75 cents per square foot could total $1,450, including 3.75 days of labor for the drywall crew.

How much does it cost to repair drywall?

The national average price range to repair drywall is $210-$300. Drywall prices can vary greatly depending on the size of the hole or crack that needs repair, the amount of materials required, and other factors. Cracks can appear at the seams in your drywall due to uncontrollable factors like your house settling or even minor earthquakes. Drywall, although sturdy, will break with enough impact, so if a dresser falls and crashes into a wall or your have a mishap hammering in nails for artwork, you could need drywall repair. Drywall repair professionals may have a minimum service fee of $100-$150 regardless of the size of the job. This ensures that their business expenses are met anytime they send their crew out to a job. Here are some additional examples of average drywall repair prices:

            • Sand and texture five wall patches: $200 (45 minutes of labor and $40 of materials).
            • Repair a 4x8 section of wall: $225 (labor $150 and materials $75).
            • Replace drywall in an entire bedroom: $1,500 (price varies depending on the number of windows, whether there’s metal trim, etc.).
