Introduction: Hallo liebe Leute! My name is Evan and I am your new German tutor. Whether you are just starting out on your German language journey, or if you have been learning for some time, I am here to help! I offer services for all ages learning beginner to intermediate German and have years of work experience in a variety of areas including but not limited to, tutoring, camp counseling, museum/cultural center, and customer service.  I am a 25 year old graduate student currently in a MA program at University of Illinois at Chicago where I graduated with a BA in Sociology with Summa Cum Laude honors. Since I started this program, I have instructed a college level German course and can't think of anything else that I would rather do. I have been studying German for over five years now and consider it to be one of the most important parts of my life. Most of my family immigrated from Germany within the last century and my father also spent a large part of his childhood there. I became enamored as a child hearing the stories as well as the spoken language. Since then, my love of the language and the culture has only grown and I continue to find ways to explore my passion for German. Whether that's through watching Bundesliga football, listening to German music, watching German television, or immersing myself in the immense cultural community here in the US, I'm always seeking to learn, grow, and teach others. ​During my time in Chicago, I have worked at the DANK Haus German American Cultural Museum where I assisted on the Eintracht newspaper project among many others. The experience opened my eyes to the world of possibilities that studying German brings. I would love to apply my knowledge of German history and culture at a similar position in the future and can't wait to share what I learned with you! While studying at UIC, not only have I continued my German studies but I also worked in the Language and Culture Learning Center tutoring students. Becoming a tutor has been one of the greatest opportunities I have had as it allows me to share my passion with others and continue to grow and learn as a student myself. ​I am incredibly excited to see where this path takes me and I am beginning my MA in Germanic Studies next fall. It is my hope that I will continue my studies even further after that and undertake a PhD as well. I can't wait to get to know you and I am looking forward to being a part of your German learning experience!
