I experienced Judo instruction in high school for about 6 months. Then in college for over 1 year I studied Japanese Karate and many years later, 2 years of Shotokan Karate. At age 68, after experiencing various physical issues, I wanted to try an age appropriate martial arts to keep my reflexes beyond par and learn new skills. Unfortunately, some of the teachers I observed before choosing Peter Honigmann, forgot the need to tone things down for seniors, especially those with physical issues. Then I met Peter, whose style of teaching an amalgam of the best of the various styles, fit perfectly into my needs. He teaches situational personal defense so a student of any age and any ability can know what to if they encounter various dangerous situations, potential and actual. My fellow students and I enjoy the 1 hour class and look forward to it. It also says something when prior students renew.
Warzone is a complete fitness destination...with what it offers...boxing classes , mma , yoga , the range of equipment & last but not least the experienced & knowledgable staff available to teach & for one on one fitness needs...classes are fun & people are friendly making it a very unique place...
I have had only 1 class with him, but he is easy going explins everything and helped me understand why. Then he went on to charm the women in mangment of the apartmen and they want him to offer classes.
I have been with Victory for almost a year and since day one I can honestly say every person in the academy has been amazing. The instructors are some of the most understanding and patient people I know when it comes to teaching MMA. I have had my moments of doubt in myself where I truly thought I couldn't do things but everyone there really motivates you to achieve everything regardless of how fast or slow you feel. The word I can't suddenly is no longer a part of your vocabulary and you learn that the things you thought you could never do because of your size suddenly become much easier. The confidence that is built is something words can't even begin to describe; truly a blessing to be able to say I train with Victory Martial Arts!
I can't express enough how fortunate I am to have a Keysi instructor as accomplished as Raymond Muhammad basically in my backyard. His love and passion for martial arts and particularly Keysi is apparent in every teaching moment you experience with him! If you are interested in Keysi and learning the right way do yourself justice and seek him out! I am confident that he will continue to grow as an instructor and I am excited about taking that journey with him!
Martial Arts classes at Victory Martial arts Orland Park has been a great experience for me. I take the Self Defense classes as well as the MMA classes. I sometimes get to see the kids karate class and they look like they are having fun but learning a lot. The location is not easy to find the first time, in a industrial strip. But this place is a gem in Orland Park.
Ryan is a knowledgeable and professional trainer always willing to accommodate and meet the needs of individual clients even when in a group setting. Pricing is extremely reasonable. LIFT Academy is a great place for people of all fitness levels. Thorough explanations and demonstrations ensure all members learn proper form and understand the science behind each exercise. Group classes are small and lots of fun!
Patti is amazing! I have taken several of her self defense classes (3 of her 4 hour seminars & her 6 week, 1 hour classes). She is knowledgeable in her field. I have learned so much from her & will continue to do so. She inspires, motivates, and empowers every woman & teen in her classes. She has helped me find value in myself & brought out the confidence in me that was non existent until I completed her 4 hour seminar. I would & do highly recommend taking a class with Patti.
I've taken Karate before and to be honest, Sensei Terrance teaches a system that's turned Sanuces 4 life. A whole body and mind experience that gives you realistic fighting scenarios and workout that made my previous personal trainers seem lazy.... water break anytime too.Learn to ask tho, lol. I learned the hard way
Danny is an amazing coach, not only for adults, but also with children. He is very patient, and helpful in explaining technique. Classes are very challenging, as well as his one on one private training sessions.
Although I felt nervous first walking in to Victory, I definitely felt welcome after the first few minutes after walking in. I was welcomed warmly by the instructor as well as by the majority of the students. When class started the instructor took time to give me attention to ensure that I was correctly doing everything. The more experienced students looked out for me as well. You could definitely tell that these instructors were not merely just having everybody go through the motions, but it was obvious that these instructors were very knowledgeable in Mixed Martial Arts. This gym definitely makes sure they pay close attention and are looking out for your safety while making sure you learn something new every time! I would totally recommend this place to men and women.
My daughter and I took a self defense class with Dylan at Players U. It was an awesome experience and I tell everyone about it. He was a great teacher and very professional. Patient and thorough, all Mom and girls should take this class. Boys being bullied should too! Just so they have an option to defend themselves. He teaches self confidence and Core strength thats beneficial to other sports and dance. We look forward to coming back this fall.
Where do I begin? As an overweight man in his early 30s, I realized that if I didn't start taking care of my body now, I'd be setting the stage for future health problems. I can't stand gyms (too repetitive), and I have little patience for martial arts that serve no real life purpose. If I'm going to be stuck in a life or death situation, high-kicking attackers all around me isn't going to work. I whittled down which martial arts would actually interest me, and it came down to Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai. Lucky for me, Threshold had BOTH, and is right by my train stop and home. How much more convenient can you get?!? The Muay Thai classes are great. There's no "line up side by side and mimic my moves" here! The moves or combos are demonstrated multiple times, then your job is to practice them one for one with a partner. You learn to read real life opponents, not am imaginary figure taking all of your shots. It is fast paced and intense, but the methodology is such that even a rookie won't feel overwhelmed. Class is competitive, but at the same time the more advanced students do their best to get all new members to their level. Our instructors, Bill Shimuk and Ed Serra, have years of experience, and have both the patience and passion to impart their skills to us. Seriously, I haven't felt this great in over a decade. Thanks!
Jay did a great job accommodating my busy schedule. He is knowledgeable and professional. I recommend his class to beginners or anyone looking to improve his/her self-defense techniques.
I have over 30 years of training in taekwon-do with the last 10 years as an instructor. I am a 3rd-degree black belt and currently teach at a well-known health club in Chicago. My instruction is customized to fit a client's needs whether it is simply learning basic self-defense or traditional taekwon-do with the benefits of cardio, concentration and body awareness.
Starting with the Tae Geuk Forms, you will learn the Blocks, Kicks and Punch defensive moves that constitute the form. Private practice is also a must to progress to passing the (1st) Form test and moving on to learn the next form in the series.
The instructions are geared toward the idea of fitness within the martial arts. I offer Chinese calisthenics, more so on the fitness than fighting while learning the art at the same time. If you're not in basic shape, being a black belt won't help.
