My Freshman daughter decided to audition for a singing competition(15 minutes before the audition started). To her surprise a few days later she received an e-mail stating that she won and would have to chose 2 songs to be sung in front of over a thousand at her high school X-facor show. She was panicked and stressed about it for 2 weeks, until we both decided she needed some help to embrace this and figure out what songs, how to act on stage, and how to get over her fear of singing in front of people. We went to see William Powers, and strangely enough he said in the short amount of time we have to work together (10 days until showtime) he would mostly work on her stage presence. To our surprise, he showed her exactly what to do from walking on the stage, what to look at, how to hold your head, what to think about, etc. After one session, she felt like a million bucks. He increased her confidence and helped her to understand that her voice is beautiful and now you go out there and sing your heart out. We saw William a few more times and she would sing to him and her awkwardness in knowing what to do with her body, arms, head, etc, was gone. She was ready! William actually came to the show and (not surprising to him) she won!!! Sophie KNOWS it was all because of William helping her with all of those nonverbal things that are so important for confidence. She went from being fearful in singing in front of 3 people, to singing in front of over a thousand! No one would have ever have known that she had never sang on stage and was scared to death on stage, but she used every tactic that William taught her and she was simply amazing.

Nick and his mate, Sam showed up on time....ready to work and continued to play three sets during a three hour period. This is my first time hiring a band for my personal party and I could not have worked with a better pair. I will definitely use him again. Well worth the money. Nice guys and open to my inexperienced suggestions. Lol! And I haven't even mention the quality of their music (jazz) was outstanding. They were the hit and highlight of the party.

I enthusiastically support the recommendation of Nicole Auriemma for employment as an entertainer (guitarist and vocalist) in the Chicago area. I have known Nicole Auriemma for the past year and have employed her numerous times to provide musical entertainment during our summer villa events. Nicole always showed up on time and entertained our guests on a very professional level. Nicole is a pleasure to work with and always brings a smile and positive attitude whenever she plays guitar. It is very apparent that she enjoys performing for audiences in any type of environment." Sincere and best regards, Steven T. Samson

Pete and I regularly performed, wrote music and recorded albums together in Shenzhen, China from 20012-2014. I've traveled the world and have performed/collaborated w musicians from all walks of life. Without a doubt, Pete is one of the best. His unique melodic & harmonic guitar colorings are essential in what set him apart from other composers. Pete knows how to listen to each song and write to meet the needs of that song. Pete is also a seasoned music teacher, having 3-5 years of classroom teaching of guitar, ukulele in China as well as private lessons in the US over the last decade. And then there's performing: Pete's performed in all manner of venues, all types of bands and with eclectic and unique musicians. There's very little he hasn't experienced and so much that he is able to assist in helping student's develop. Whether you want to develop your guitar chops, learn how to song- write, pro tips and pointers on performance - Trust me, Pete Kruse is your mentor. I'm his peer and I have learned countless skills from him. He gets my full recommendation. If you're looking to book him to perform for your function, you'll be very happy with your entertainment!

It was a joy to work with Kathryn. She responded immediately, and made arrangements to bring along her guitarist, to accommodate a last minute holiday party. Everyone loved the music which ranged from holiday classics, some old MoTown and 60s/70s favorites! I would definitely hire Kathryn again!

Programs, Arlington Heights Memorial Library S.

The Alba Quartet played a performance recently for the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, as part of both our Sunday Musicale series, and our One Book, One Village initiative. Carlyn went above and beyond to connect with the One Book, One Village title, "The Geography of Genius", talking about the life and genius of Mozart, and playing his works beautifully. The audience absolutely loved the performance, as you can see below from a few of the comments we received in our online program survey: “Enjoyable performance by the Alba Quartet” “I wasn't expecting the flutist to speak, but truly appreciated how she 'narrated' the quartet's performance. Her comments were informative, interesting, insightful, funny and tied to the book Geography of Genius. I liked the way the other musicians introduced themselves by talking about where they are from and where they've studied/performed music, again linking to the book.” “The quartet members are skilled musicians and seemed very happy to be part of the program at the library. Unless we could have sipped champagne during the performance, I can't think of a single way to improve the experience. Thank you!” “Excellent musical group which did an exceptional job of playing Mozart's music!” “Beautiful music and a lovely selection of Mozart works. Very interesting tidbits of info on Mozart as well. We thoroughly enjoyed the program” Many thanks to the Alba Quartet for providing the Arlington Heights community with such a high-caliber music program!

Jon provided the music for the cocktail hour of our wedding on Sunday, September 18, 2016. We must start out by saying that, because the entire wedding was one big whirlwind, we did not have the pleasure of being able to hear a majority of Jon’s performance. However, we did hear through word of mouth that the guests really enjoyed the music that Jon provided. We communicated exclusively through e-mail. He was very kind and patient with us as we tried to figure out what types of music we wanted to play. Jon was able to send us a list of songs that he was well-versed in and that accommodated the genres we ultimately decided on (latin, jazz, bossa nova, R&B). This made our lives easier as it helped us to focus and eventually narrow our choices down to a small selection of songs. We finally got a chance to meet face to face at the wedding venue. He was very sweet and very formal (and he speaks Spanish too!). We did have a bit of confusion regarding whether or not Jon would use his own personal keyboard or the piano provided by the wedding venue but thankfully everything worked out in the end. Jon was VERY reasonably priced; however, he does not provide a contract (but because Jon is such a professional, this was not an issue at all). We would absolutely recommend Jon. And like we had mentioned to him at the venue, hopefully we have another opportunity to hire him so that we can listen to and enjoy his musical talents in its entirety. Thanks again Jon!

More than just a teacher. I took guitar lessons with Paul for eight years. He helped me realize my natural ear for music, and allowed me to figure out what I wanted to learn. Our lessons were always different. Sometimes I would bring in songs that I wanted to learn, and sometimes he would have things he thought I should know how to play, which helped me learn similar songs later on. When I was applying to college and needed to learn how to read music and play jazz guitar, he tailored all of our lessons so that I could learn those techniques quickly and most importantly, efficiently. Paul's personality transcends the teacher-student relationship, which allowed he and I to become very good friends. Paul William is an excellent teacher for whatever you need to learn. You can't go wrong taking lessons from him.

Greg is the best! He is an incredibly talented musician. He is B able to adapt any piece to your abilities. He wants you to play pieces you're interested in. His encouragement was kind, but firm-- which is exactly what I needed. He held me to a high standard that I was eager to meet. He has a great sense of humor, which made lessons fun and stress free. I highly recommend Greg!

Mr. Garcia has been giving my two children, ages 7 and 5, piano instruction in our home for a couple of months now, and I could not be happier with his services. He is professional, respectful, and courteous. As an instructor, he is extremely knowledgeable, patient and thorough. If the student does not grasp the lesson with one method, he will work with the student at his or her pace, trying different methods until the lesson is fully understood. Mr. Garcia is a highly skilled pianist, and, fortunately for us, a wonderful teacher as well. I highly recommend him.
