We’re extremely disappointed with Ron’s professionalism and how he did NOT honor his one year warranty. We would not use Ron ever again. The quality of the work was not acceptable when PAYING a professional for it. We hired Ron to paint ceilings, walls, and trim for our entire house except for the bedrooms and bathrooms. Initially we were happy with Ron and his work ethic. We did not by any means expect perfection but it was clear that Ron worked hard and intended to do good work. However, the entire experience left us hugely disappointed in his professionalism and the quality of his work. The Good: 1. Ron’s a nice guy who has apparently been in the business for awhile. We had a good rapport, and he seemed to know what he was talking about. In his defense, he was a man down on our job so he was likely ‘rushing’ to complete. Not an ideal situation BUT not our fault. He was very responsive initially and during the job to any questions or concerns we had. 2. During the final walkthrough and before that, if we pointed something out he seemed to make every effort to fix it. It was annoying to have to be on top of him but he DID correct anything we pointed out which was great. The Bad: 1. We were told the job would take 3 days and 2 people would be there to work. The job took 6 days because only Ron came (the other man was injured the day before) which caused us to miss quite a bit more work than anticipated. Annoying but we were understanding and did not complain. 2. Ron showed up late (8:30-9 when he had told me 7-7:30) nearly every day and one day did not show up to start the job until almost 11 AM. 3. Near the end we went over the walls he had finished painting looking for issues and literally ‘flagged’ dozens if not a hundred (small) areas that were not acceptable. Example: he had painted two coats in a darker green color yet there were still spots of the former color (pale yellow or taupe) showing through as if he had just gone over quickly with the green instead of making sure the wall was completely covered. This happened ALL OVER the place. 4. Proper tarping was a problem. Our downstairs area is carpeted and upstairs is hardwood. Ron would lay down canvas tarps that he moved with him as he painted the walls. However, EVERY night I would find paint (bright peach color) tracked on the carpet as well as spots on the hardwood. Our kitchen was not tarped when he did the ceiling so there was were tiny paint droplets all over the stove and other areas that had to be scrubbed off. 5. Ron followed up with us after the job was complete asking about our satisfaction with the painting. Ron had given us a ONE YEAR WARRANTY on all the painting he did so we told him (and sent pictures) of a couple issues (i.e. a spot or two of poor rolling, two spots he didn’t paint/missed, and the major issue was a huge section of several feet of the ceiling in the main living area was just completely not painted). 6. In trying to resolve the above issue, I would email him then wait 5-7 days for a response. Receive nothing and then re-email him asking for a response and then I would finally get a sentence or two back. This process continued for several weeks until Ron simply stopped responding completely. I wrote a last email reminding him of the 1 year warranty and the minor nature of things that had to be fixed (an hour or two tops of work to fix) and he still did not respond. Hence this review.
