After spending over 5k on dog training I was less than impressed when my wife suggested just one more trainer. I bought Frankie the Frenchie for my wife as an engagement present 3 years ago. I travel for business and we didn't have any children yet. So I thought hey how about a dog to keep you company while I'm away. So here we are with this tiny adorable little dog with the cutest ears I have ever seen. My wife was happy, so I was happy. Well about 6 months in I would come home and Frankie would growl and me and lunge at me, I figured it was just him being protective. I wasn't home that often so when I was Frankie was in his crate. Over time it got worse and worse with him and I began to worry that he may actually bite me if I try to get in his way of my wife. So summer 2013 we began looking for a trainer to help us. The first program was 2 weeks at a place called tops in grayslake, not only did is cost a ton but it didn't do anything for him and I feel like he came back worse than he started. We tried a few more programs and still nothing helped..I started thinking Frankie was just a mean dog and only liked my wife. Well in June of this year we found out we are going to have a baby, and my wife can't bare the thought of getting rid of Frankie, plus with his attitude we weren't sure someone would be able to adopt him. Our neighbor suggested YBFDH, told us if anyone can fix it Diana the head trainer can. We called them and after telling them we have already spent so much money we were about to give up. She told us please don't give up let's meet and we can help you. I though yeah that's what eveeyone has said leading up until now. They ended up only charging us 50% of the price because we already went through so much, and they refused to take a penny more. Frankie stayed with them for 6.5 weeks and then he was ready to come home. He has been home since September 28th and things have been great. He is such a sweet boy, it turned out he was very insecure so he was acting out because he was afraid of me. YBFDH helped us also to be better dog owners. Frankie is going on long walks each day, my wife and I rotate who walks him and feeds him each day. We plan to have a bit more training done in our home after the baby comes! But this program is great! It really works!

It was love at first sight when I first met Beau, a four year old American Staffordshire, Being a long time Cesar Millan fan, and never an alpha dog owner before, I knew that the breed can be determined , even though Beau first appears to be too submissive, and needs an assertive pack leader. I deliberately searched for a trainer who could help me be the kind of leader Beau needed, who had the same beliefs which I held, that dogs need exercise, discipline and a job as an important part of being a happy member of our pack. From the moment I met Ian, I knew Beau and I were in the right hands. Beau and I both are so excited to learn new behaviors, skills and new jobs that we have also been able to be examples of a happy pack with our friends and their dogs when we visit them, even calming their dogs just by going on a pack walk and letting Beau and me lead. Beau and I have also been able to change a couple of prejudiced minds about his breed, just by practicing our new skills confidently. Being a strong believer that nothing happens by chance, I am so grateful that Smart Dog Training was available to us. We re both are better beings because each other and Ian. (And Elizabeth and Kristy too)

Hi there! I am a very reasonable and affordable private dog trainer at your home. I have reference from owners that I trained with and their dog if you need them upon request. I have my certification on dog training and behavior. I been a trainer for 8-10 years.  Feel free to contact me with your dog's breed, age, and issue you want to fix. I am here to help any puppy whether they're adults and senior dogs. I am experience in basic commands, socialization, leash manners, no jumping, barking, clicker training, obedience, fear/fear with dogs and or people/anxiety/possessive, resource guarding, potty training, aggressiveness, picky eater, and even fun tricks to show off -- just about anything you want. There is nothing I can't do. I do it all. E-mail me with any advice or questions. I can also walk your dog or dog sit if you would like. P.S. I do only positive reinforcement. I do not use choke chains, prong/pinch collars nor shock collars to train. I recommend only collars for those who need. I know how to train while using an easy walk harness with ring on front and/or head halting gentle leader. I do not train using pain nor forceful methods. You will see the results on the first day by using my methods and you will see how much of a happy bond you have made and that's a promise.
