Introduction: I teach violin because it is my passion! I love music, and strive to generate joy, confidence, and positive motivation for my students over the course of their lessons. Every person is unique, and my approach tailors to the needs, questions, and interests of my students. Together, we develop strong technique, healthy posture and hand positions, a great understanding of music theory, quick note-reading and sight-reading skills, and a variety of tools to play beautifully and expressively. I am a professional violinist and teacher with almost 10 years of teaching experience. I received my M.M. in violin performance this July from the Royal College of Music, the #1 music conservatory in Europe and the UK. My teaching draws on extensive experience in orchestras, chamber groups, and as a soloist, across many U.S. states and abroad. I was assistant concertmaster of the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra in London, won national competitions in chamber music, and performed live on radio for Chicago's 98.7 WFMT and NPR’s “From the Top."

My talented daughter has had a number of teachers, but Aviva was her favourite! We were sorry she had to move away. She has great warmth and patience, particularly important with younger students.
