He taught 2 of my children. One learned guitar and the other piano. They both excelled! I would recommend him to others looking for private or group lessons.
My daughter started piano lessons with Stacey just a month ago but she is so excited every week to go. We have been very happy with how Stacey has progressed her - continually adding more difficult pieces to work on to see what she can do. This is our first experience w music lessons of any type and we are really happy with Stacey De & Co! Even my son, who never wants to try anything new, has started asking about taking drum lessons there. We couldn't be happier :)
Music lessons (Bass and Guitar). Matt is patient and makes learning an instrument as an adult fun. He caters to your tastes and goals, the lessons never feel like a chore, it is a nice break in the routine every week. Highly recommended !!
I have been taking lessons from Dan for more than two and a half years and it something I look forward to every week. Aside from being a great teacher, he is fun, understanding and very talented. He takes the time to help you understand the structure of what you are learning without over burdening you with theory. He is also really interested in making sure you are enjoying playing (that is the point) and getting out of it exactly what you want. Any time I have a request (no matter how absurd) of a song to learn, Dan takes the time to find a good arrangement at my level and teaches it to me. It is really nice having that flexibility and personal investment in my lessons. In just two and a half years, I went from playing no to guitar to be comfortable jamming with my friends while also developing my classical guitar playing skills. His musical interests are vast; from beautiful classical pieces to classic rock solos to movie soundtracks (he loves Storybook Love from the Princess Bride). This blend of genres and talents truly sets Dan a part and I would encourage anyone looking to finally learn the guitar to sign up for lessons with Dan.
More than just a teacher. I took guitar lessons with Paul for eight years. He helped me realize my natural ear for music, and allowed me to figure out what I wanted to learn. Our lessons were always different. Sometimes I would bring in songs that I wanted to learn, and sometimes he would have things he thought I should know how to play, which helped me learn similar songs later on. When I was applying to college and needed to learn how to read music and play jazz guitar, he tailored all of our lessons so that I could learn those techniques quickly and most importantly, efficiently. Paul's personality transcends the teacher-student relationship, which allowed he and I to become very good friends. Paul William is an excellent teacher for whatever you need to learn. You can't go wrong taking lessons from him.
I just had my first lesson with Jeremie a couple of weeks ago, and he was wonderful! He was very professional, but really fun, and was able to answer any questions I had with ease. The first lesson was very manageable but I felt like I was learning a lot the entire time. Also, he was very polite and respectful when it came to pointing out things that I needed to do differently. I would definitely recommend Jeremie to anyone who is looking for guitar lessons!
Pete taught our son James guitar lessons for about two years. James had never played guitar prior to meeting with Pete, and I was impressed by Pete's patience, optimism and professionalism at every lesson. James can now play several pop songs and even some beginner classical music. Thanks Pete!
I don't leave reviews very often, but I feel compelled to do so in this case. So here we go... In the past, I've taken guitar lessons from 8 or 9 different guitar teachers in this area throughout the years - some were ok, others were less than ok. I know the difference between a good teacher and an average one. So this time around I invested the time to do my homework because I didn't want to find another "pretty good" teacher. I wanted to find THE BEST guitar teacher. From the first moment I met Jacob at the American Academy of Guitar, it felt different... it just felt better. But first impressions don't tell the whole story, so I remained cautiously optimistic about how good these lessons with Jacob were really going to be... Well, the deeper we went, the better it got! This is exactly what I'd been looking for but never found until now! These lessons are a lot more fun and I'm learning more now than I ever have before! What makes Jacob better than all the other teachers I've ever had elsewhere? Here's the short list of observations I made: 1. It's very clear that his entire approach to teaching me is to help me reach my goals with the guitar. 2. The lessons are more fun than what I've had elsewhere. I've been thinking a lot about this and trying to put my finger on exactly what about Jacob makes the lessons more fun. It's his personality combined with his unique ability to instantly uncover bad habits I didn't even know I had in my playing... then he was able to help me fix them almost immediately and that led to... 3. I'm making big improvements in a very short period of time... not just because what he teaches me really works better than what I learned elsewhere in the past, but because he was able to help me quickly remove obstacles that had been holding my development back! That's all for now. I just want to say THANK YOU Jacob. I plan on continuing to learn from you for many years to come!!
My 10 year old is learning bass guitar. Tim is patient, has an easy going personality, reasonable rates, is flexible (though busy) plus he has a sweet & welcoming dog to entertain you if you stay during the lesson.
I contacted Jerry, inquiring about in-home guitar lessons for my daughter. He replied immediately with helpful suggestions of an instructor. When I realized my daughter wanted a female instructor Jerry went out of his way to find out more about my daughter and the kind of instructor who would be compatible with her. He then suggested one of two female instructors he felt would meet her needs. I was impressed with the time and effort he put into helping me find an instructor for her. This was extraordinary that he would take the time to help me when it did not directly benefit him and he did not even know me! I had originally contacted Jerry because of his highly regarded reputation for teaching and instruction. But now I also hold him in high regard for his kindness and dedication to helping others find their way into the world of music.
Awesome experience. I was a Guinea pig for their intensive approach. I started with no (I mean zero, like 0.00) kmowledge of guitar playing, and after three days was able to almost hold my own in a group jam. Jason is an amazing instructor - he gives enough theory to satisfy a curious mind, while also emphasizing just playing and having fun. I dont even live in Chicago (San Francisco is home), and I joined Altered Stage because it's so awesome. Flying out again next week for more.
I really enjoyed taking guitar lessons with Ryan! He took time to really listen to and understand what my goals were and helped me work towards them, which is no small feat for a complete beginner. He explained new concepts in ways I could understand and I felt comfortable asking for clarification. He also gave me a variety of different exercises (chords, scales, picking, strumming, full songs) to keep things interesting and to keep me engaged. I also liked that he added in a little music theory (at my request) so that I knew why I was doing what I was doing. In all Ryan is kind, chill, accommodating, talented, and thoughtful, so I would definitely recommend him as a teacher.
Bellas Artes has almost become our home away from home. All three of our children take lessons there (violin, guitar, voice and musicgarten) and we truly could not be more pleased in the quality of instruction their receive every week! When our oldest daughter came to us and asked if she could please take violin lessons four years ago, we were not only surprised but also delighted but then the search began for a music studio. Where should we go? We were clueless but instantly felt like Bellas Artes was the place for us, after talking to Justin. Miss Constance, Mr. Brown, Miss Suzanna and Miss Destiney have been wonderful instructors for our children and we have so enjoyed watching them learn and grow and become excited about music and performing. We couldn't be happier!
Great all around guy, wonderful and patient bass teacher; makes taking lessons a joy!
My son learned to play guitar there at the age of 5. He is now 12 and has continued his lessons and has formed a Rock Band where they all practice and perform through the music school. They have all learned a tremendous amount and it continues to be a wonderful experience for them.
I don't just teach out of a method book. I have my own materials written out, and customize every lesson for each individual student. It's my job to combine your musical goals with what I know you need to learn.
I offer professional, private lesson plans for students of all ages. Lessons start at $15 per half-hour session and $30 for an hour session. Multiple programs available including online and group lessons. Lessons are available on weekdays, afternoons and evenings by appointment.
My name is Brent. I have been playing guitar for 13 years and have had multiple students. I play mostly the blues, rock and folk, but let's play the music you want to play. Your lesson is all about how you want to play and how best to do it. I will provide beginning music theory training as part of our lessons as well. I love teaching and accept beginners of all ages. I am located between Logan Square and Wicker Park in Humbolt Park. I can provide an instrument if needed and am also very willing to travel to you!
I'm a guitarist, with eight years of experience. I enjoy playing in multiple styles: rock, blues, jazz, classical, metal, funk, etc. I know a moderate amount of theory, so depending on how you'd like to learn, I could apply that into my lessons. Any age group is fine. I really enjoy teaching what I know.
We love what we do !!
I am very detail and results-oriented, and personable. I work well with others, and have been a charismatic individual in the workplace.
