Introduction: I have been teaching for 23 years. During this time I have continued to learn new techniques, styles and refine my teaching method. At first learning to play an instrument is about learning certain techniques and disciplines. After that it's about tapping into your creative conscience and letting it "flow". This aspect seems to be lacking in a lot of other instructors I know. As a performing musician I try and take what I have learned so that I am able to pull directly from spirit without any physical restrictions. I get to meet new people, go to new place and do what I love!

Sean Slavin is one of those underrated greats. Every show I have seen Karen and Sean play has been fantastic musically. The duo is also very professional in their approach to what they do.

I took bass lessons from Sean Slavin several years ago. Though he is an incredible musician, Sean isn't intimidating to beginners. He welcomes questions and encouraged my development as a budding bassist. Instruction was at my skill level and tailored to my tastes. Sean is patient and willing to adapt his teaching style for the learning style of the student. I've had many one-on-one music instructors over the years, and Sean stands out as the best.
